Fun fact: This track is all Sytrus, except for the drums. Sytrus was the only generator plugin I used in this entire track.

Here's my remix of Press Start in the form of hard-hitting dubstep.

I had a very fun time making this remix and I learned a lot of new things. One of the things I tried doing was using only subtractive EQ-ing when mixing, which worked out surprisingly well. I also made some of my best sound-design to date. I hope you enjoy this remix just as much as I enjoyed making it.

Q&A:
-Why is this track not on Spotify?
Because of the licencing terms for using the stems and melodies of Press Start, I can only upload it to SoundCloud. I mainly use Spotify for listening so I know how annoying it is when artists I listen to upload their music to SoundCloud exclusively, but there's nothing I can do about it for this song. Sorry.

-Wait, how did you get the stems to Press Start?
MDK held a remix contest for Press Start over on Splice, so anybody could get the stems and make their own remix. This is my entry to that remix contest.

Christmas Special: 2020 WIP Showreel

OllAxe is a Swedish music producer and DJ. In his years of producing music, he's made a wide variety of chiptune and EDM tracks and has had his music heard over 400 000 times.

When he started out, he made music using FamiTracker - a piece of software for creating chiptune. During that time, he learned to write the melodies you hear in his music today. He also brought with him the palette of chiptune sounds that star in most music he makes.

Fast forward to today, OllAxe is balancing his job in game development with his music production hobby. Even when he's not releasing music, he's constantly fine-tuning his craft.
