Channels Of My Heart

I recorded all the guitar parts for this completely spontaneously in the first take without having any preconceived idea of what I was going to play. I then added various effects on Ableton and recorded myself manually automating various parameters e.g. Reverb Wet/Dry, Filter Cut-off freq. etc.

I recorded this last year when I started taking antidepressants; a dark time for me that yielded this track as a cathartic outlet. 

It may interest you to know that a small section (from 0:23 to 0:30) is actually taken from the original unmixed version, as I felt that it had a certain exposed rawness to it that I liked.

Pieces Of My Mind

This was my first real venture into sound design. For the majority of the synth sounds on this track I used Ableton's built-in Analog synth.

Something Great

For this track I thought it would be fun to limit myself to just using my guitar to create a kind of soundscape. Rather than compose anything beforehand, I recorded parts as I came up with them and put them together into a kind of aural collage. It was inspired by Autumn and the gentle feeling of melancholy it instills.

This track saw me continuing to learn how to create cool synth timbres, this time with Native Instruments' MASSIVE synthesizer. Some of the sounds have a bit of an LA Priest influence.
