A new Drum & Bass mixtape series. 

I have been wanting to get this started for a while now. 
After a year of not many gigs and playing out, I launched deep into my collection and started refining my filing system. 
I discovered so many hidden gems and genres I wasn’t paying too much attention to, whilst playing to the Sydney crowd. 
That and creating the 20 year retrospective series really ignited my love for (and started collecting) other flavours I’d neglected again. 

So coming full circle, I’m back to where I started on the DnB train. 
Drum & Bass kicked off my love for electonica in the 90’s so was always my first love. It wasn’t till I heard djs like Mark Farina, Derrick Carter and Daft Punk that I was sold on house music too. 

This first mix is a more entry level liquid, chill, vocal and deeper journey. 
Show casing some of my favourite and long standing producers. As well as some exciting newer names in the scene. 

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it together and starting a new series. 
I know a lot of my old skool friends will be stoked I’m back to where I started enjoying the genre again. 
I love all types of music. Inspiration from all corners and flavours of the world. Cheers.

Capturing the moments in time spent with friends and crew on the dance floor sharing the love of all the great tunes over the years.

The Gold Room Vol. 2

Well I’ve finally got around to putting together my first retrospective mix from my ‘twenty years behind the decks’ compilations. 

First of the bat is a deeper drum and bass mix that pretty much got me into becoming a D.J. 
I started buying cd's at my local music store before I went to my first dnb gig where I saw them playing records. My older brother had all the tunes on vinyl as well so I started buying wax from that moment on. 
All the tunes here span the years I was playing drum and bass full time. After my move to Australia I found the audience very small, so I stuck to a bit slower stuff like house and techno that people were more into. Some of the tracks here go back as far as 1996. It was very hard to choose the tracks as there has been so many over the years. I think I have definitely put in a lot that have influenced me still to this day.
 I will do a more darker and dance floor oriented one next..

20 Year Retrospective Deep Drum & Bass Mix

So on to the house music side of things, continuing on from the drum & bass, in the 20 year retrospective series. 
I put together a two hour mix as I got quite carried away with all the great tunes back then. (And I might need to do a Pt.2) 
Fond memories of great times with friends and family on the dance floor, and all the legends who were playing them. 
Late 90’s house from the west coast of America to England and back to Chicago, Detroit and beyond. Growing up in New Zealand it was a smorgasbord of tunes from all over. Funky, deep and disco flavours all around. 
House music is such a well rounded genre that encompasses and borrows from so many different types of music and translates them in to an easy format for ultimate pleasure. 
The roots of what I’m still playing. 
These tunes show house music has been class for a long time. And continues to  and push boundaries with production and arrangements.

Late 90’s house PT.2 . Mix 4 of the 20 year retrospective series. 

There were too many good tracks left out in part one I had to do another. Tunes I grew up listening to and playing, I either had the vinyl or the CD. Lots of french house here. They were so all over the sound back then. 
Well represented here as well the Americans, Mood 2 Swing, Mateo & Matos, Kevin Yost, Green Velvet, Jeff Mills, Joey Beltran and others. Daft Punks album Homework was a game changer when it came out so I had to add a couple of offerings from it. As well as a Thomas Bangalter track. St. Germain, Bob Sinclar.
Also some Roy Davis JNR and Bassment Jaxx.

Hope you enjoy the mix. Was super fun putting another together.

A mostly deep house mix covering the years when I moved to the big city of Wellington, then on to Sydney. A lot of late nights caning these tunes. A total mixed bag of goods, some big, some small, so many memories of the people I was hanging with, hope you enjoy.

After receiving his first mix tape on his 4th birthday, 'Oliver's greatest hits volume 1', Olluss has lived his life totally submerged in music.
He started classical piano lessons at the age of 9 and picked up the guitar at 12. He played in grunge bands at high school and bought his first pair of decks in '99. Lucky enough to have a musical family, Olluss had two older brothers to feed off for their well rounded knowledge and selection.
Moving to New Zealand's capital Wellington in 2000, was where he learned most of his skill and craft.
In a city that boasts some of the best and most diverse selectors in the country, it was school on any given night out.
Olluss had his own radio show on 'Active 89fm' and a weekly residency at a one of Welly's finest watering holes 'Tupelo'. As well as featuring at local collective ‘Bass Frontiers’ drum & bass parties, who hosted monthly international guests.
After three years in the capital, Olluss made his move to Sydney, where he has resided now for twenty years.
Involved in the local burner culture belonging to 'Sunset Island’, 'Bizarre Haberdashery' and 'Papania, 'Burning Seed' theme camps, Olluss is a regular, playing many venues all over the city, inner west, beaches and state.
Whether in a club, warehouse, on a beach or out in the bush, he is always dishing out his own signature blend of deep driving party music to compliment the current surrounds.
Featuring at local club nights and festivals, 'SASH',’Subsonic’,’We Love',’Zoo','Lost Paradise' and 'Rhythm and Vines'. Supported djs & producers 'Danny Howells', 'Mr C', 'Osunlade', 'Horse Meat Disco', '2 Bears', ‘Bjorn Wilke’ and ‘FABE’.
Shared stages with 'Disclosure', 'Booka Shade', 'Benga', 'Dj Yoda', 'High Contrast' and many more.
