in his most boneless approach to composition & arrangement — a barefooted take is brought to life by [kimetsu.] through a loop of string progressions, before the lacing & layered of multiple percussive elements that gain prominence as the song takes shape.

in their nature, these are minimal & one take — with Johnny Wxlf, sculpting the setting, not only with his brilliant writing & vocal delivery but by equally directing the boneless beyond its minimal nature.

The one thing I always appreciate and love about working with [kimetsu.] is always how organically and easily the songs come up. I remember scrolling through WhatsApp status' and he had posted a sample of this instrumental. I immediately asked him about it and he responded with the instrumental itself. The interesting part is that the initial instrumental was almost 2 mins and I already knew I had alot I wanted to do on it. So going into studio I had to extend it to accommodate the song I had to sing for it. The song itself ‘amadlozi’ is a song I've had since 2018 but never actually got the chance to record it or bring it to life anywhere and this instrumental felt like the perfect canvas for what I wanted to express with this song. Amadlozi is a call to our ancestors to reach out to our generation and guide them back to their African roots. I wrote this song during a period of deep frustration with how westernised African music and life had become.

Following their debut single, “amadlozi”, “FOLK TALES, FORK TAILS” promises to captivate audiences with its intricate melodies and hypnotic rhythms. This track serves as a preview of what's to come on Saccharine Radio’s upcoming EP.

having taken a taxi on a random workday, [kimetsu.] had found himself shazaming a song playing, one that he would later discover that it was unofficial Charles Webster remix & within these distinct sonics, there was a guitar, almost staring into his soul…

an 8 second soundbite, turned into a frame for a collage of sonic exhibition — a painting that Johnny Wxlf would later on, equally paint with his brush of wit, wordplay & signature cadence.

This song was one of those case where I had no idea what direction this song would go but I knew as soon as i heard the snippet on [kimetsu.]'s WhatsApp status I had to do something on it. This was actually the first song I ever did with [kimetsu.] I think, I might be wrong but i know this was either the first or second. The manner in which [kimetsu.] produces his work is so ancestral sonically and it doesn't take much to get invoked by his music. After the second listen I found myself singing along without even realising and ended up recording the following day. I always find myself trying my best to compliment [kimetsu.]’s music with a meaningful message and bonfire type chants because i understand that what he’s doing musically is an anomaly and its also extremely important. The intention behind this song from my side was honestly just invocation and I'm grateful [kimetsu.] allowed me to express myself freely on this.
