Moscow's duo Odopt debut on the Emotional Especial with an EP of discordant, darkroom bangers for the end of days. Following acclaimed releases for Born Free, Discos Capablanca and Hivern Discs. Ivan & Grisha - former residents of the infamous Denis Simachev Bar who glided aboard the Salon des Amateurs, Sameheads, Opium, Golden Pudel, 20/44 caravan with ease - present a 4 tracker of propulsive techno-house chamber music for these modern times.
Our pick falls on 'A14' with their nefarious, sonic industrial funk on max. Samples reverberate around a dystopian shell, before playful tonalities swirl you higher. As hands to the sky as Odopt will ever witness. There is true beauty in the night.

Munich-based platform Alternative Fakten are dedicated to putting the city's underground music and arts scene on the map, be that through club nights, live shows, panel talks, art exhibitions, or releases — like the one we've got for you right here. Like their first label outing, the second is another compilation celebrating artists within the city, though this time, they highlight a wealth of contemporary electronic producers who are operating in the spaces between the city's artworld, activist groups and club culture, including Fuel Moon, WLAN and label bosses Tom Zwotausend & Bartoszek.

Washington DC-based Lurid Music welcomes Belgian producer YNV for his debut album entitled “Golden Hour Ritual” that showcases his entrancing blend of avant exotica, Middle Eastern mysticism and cabaret electronica.

YNV was born in Brussels in 1979 and moved to California in 2013. He has so far released tracks on Invisible Inc and Emotional Response. Along with his upcoming debut album on Lurid Music, he has a single ready to be released on Neubau. He is a video artist and music curator for the Vague Terrain nights in San Francisco. In his music, as with his videos, he exploits the liminal space between our most disparate emotional states and the tenuous thread that binds our inner world to reality at its face value. Carrying the torch of his Euro roots, you hear the influence of his homeland with some California sunshine and a palm tree thrown in for good measure.

His LP for Lurid Music features nine original tracks of a brooding cinematic nature, transporting you to the sheltering courtyard shade of a desert riad where every movement seems as theatrically measured and eccentrically calculated as anything Tuxedomoon, The Residents or Dead Can Dance ever produced. The LP closes with a slow acid trance remix from Anatolian Weapons.

BRAU was the name of my dog when I was a child .

This double A-sider is the fruit of a long gestating collaboration with fellow Malmö-based record collector/selector & producer Simon alias Rizzolo DJ (alias Moisture). Closely intertwined with the label in various ways since the start, his path to producing started with re-edits and a more wild-haired approach to deejaying, finally landing into his own groove with the 2018 album A Freak Is Born. Released as a privately pressed cassette, the album featured two tracks co-produced with Fasaan founder Prins Emanuel. 

On that first album, the palette was a lo-fi reverie of minimal waves crashing into depths of goth and heights of camp. Here for the 12” format, we instead get the full onslaught of power tools gleaming in the blast of strobe lights. The weight of GAMMUT unfolds and delivers exactly what the title suggests: a complete scope of percussive barrage unleashed in tight locked grooves and smattering reverberations. In addition to that, we are treated with a spine-tingling re-imagining of the concept of a bass drop. 

For ORGONE, a 1984 track by Norwegian group Fra Lippo Lippi serves as the backbone of the composition. Championed by cosmic DJ Daniele Baldelli and here pitched down to wrongspeeder tempo, Moisture uses the original song to bridge the gap between his roots in the re-edit scene as well as in the cosmic tradition. Thedry  mechanical bassline is flanked by hollow percussion that eventually propels into a crystal-chimmering microcosm of orgone energy.

The slow and trancey virtuoso from Frankfurt is back to release his solo EP. Each track has its own movement - mysterious, tense, exploring, expanding. Each movement is a medicine for your flesh and soul. The EP also includes great sounds from Greece. The remix by Anatolian Weapons is, as always, something more than just an interpretation.

From the first tribal beats, this EP triggers your body to want to move, something we're sorely lacking these days. We hope you can shake off the pandemic cobwebs to these tunes, wherever you are.

Fauve Records head honcho RFX kicks us off with his work on Assid Rayn. With the infamous releases on Fauve as well as the always welcomed Bandcamp Friday special “Ephemeral Edits” releases, we’ve been waiting to collaborate with this fella and me-oh-my was the wait worth it. ASSS-ASSSIIIIID. We continue with a couple of legends in this so-called “edits game”. Running Hot, the infamous duo from UK that does not need any introduction, and among our personal favourites. Our homegrown Aaron Maple continues on the third act, where he does his usual magic on My Maya. To end the 9th edition, Miro-Benji breaks the beat with World Championships. A track that stays true to its title and works just as well in a sweaty warehouse as it does in a Colin McRae rally game in the arcade hall. This is one we suggest you save for a special post-covid moment, when the dance floor is your oyster and the crowd is in the palm of your hands.

"Ólta Karawane are creating a halo of mystery. An alcoholic duo that once met each other waking up from a delirious state in front of a moscow liquor store. One lost his keys (along with his pants) the other his wallet (along with his jacket). But they still had some booze and when deciding what to do next they were ending up in the studio. Apparently there was a bunch of people digging what they did, so they released a bunch of edits for Maturre, I'm a Cliché and on Discos Capablanca. These guys are true punks, they’re not friends with anyone, nobody likes them, nor do they like anyone, no sympathy, no respect, just moscow street punk."
