Continuum, an immersive journey where electronic and acoustic textures intertwine to echo the beauty and fragility of nature. 

It all started with a solo bike ride. The perfect opportunity for Belgian producer and composer Olvo to sketch out the first lines of Continuum, his second solo album. Conceived as a fictional soundtrack to an environmental documentary, this gentle, poetic work delicately evokes the theme of telling an ecological fable.

The album explores various musical genres, from ambient to chamber music and alternative hip-hop, in the artist’s trademark style. At times reminiscent of film music, punctuated by ecological mantras and supported by nature recordings, the album subtly blends acoustic and electronic instruments.

On this second project, there are no features as such, but numerous instrumental collaborations and an ambitious cast including the violin of Damien Chierici (Dan San, Kowari), the cello of Eugénie Defraigne (Loïc Nottet, Léo Nocta), the guitar of Canadian songwriter Simon Jutras (McLean), the backing vocals of conductor Emeline Burnotte (Sing for the moment) and many others.

A new opus, simple in appearance, but the fruit of long-term research, combining field and studio work, which aims to put biodiversity in music and nature in the spotlight. Like a treatise on ornithology or a botanical manual, the track list refers to various animal and plant species, which can be identified on the cover artwork by Namur-based artist Demos from the Drash collective.

Last episode in a series of mini-mixes featuring most of my audio work over the last few years, not intended to be on an album. 
Basically, a melting pot of tracks, many of which are the result of sound research, commissions, rap instrus that didn't find a place, featuring that are sleeping, etc. The whole thing ranges from ambient to my signature beats, embellished with field recording, naturalistic discourse and vocal yoghurt.

When you venture onto the lesser-known trails of the Hautes Fagnes, what really stands out is the silence. A silence which, if we take the time to listen, tells us many stories.

To capture these fleeting moments, we called on composer Nicolas Allard, aka Olvo. Equipped with his microphone and headphones, he went out to meet the elusive nature of the Hautes Fagnes.

From these sounds, he composed several tracks, inspired by the stories and legends that have shaped these little-known walks.

Quercus Petrea

Picus Viridis is a Bird. The European green woodpecker (Pic Vert).

It's a pretty rare bird to observe here in Belgium.
The Green Woodpecker is about the size of a pigeon. Its plumage is dominated by green and yellow, with a red cap.

The song begins with a big, textured synth in a slightly oriental key.
It opens next into a much softer part where clarinet, piano and sub bass sing together for a few bars.

Inspired by the sounds of nature, “Apis Mellifera” offers a meditative blend of ambient, cinematic and organic electronica. With Choirs, cello, guitar and spoken word, it feels like a soundtrack to a poetic ecological fable. A slow and immersive tribute to biodiversity, in the vein of Olafur Arnalds, Superpoze or Robot Koch.

Salix alba means the White Willow. It's an organic song located between instrumental folk, lofi hip hop and chamber music. The track is composed from a piano ostinato and supported by field recording, cello, violin, choirs, synth and guitar.

Achillea

Sorbus Aria or White Birch is a flowering arbutus, particularly popular with pollinators. Often planted in parks as an ornamental tree, it is eye-catching thanks to its silvery appearance and large, downy leaves.

Sorbus Aria is a more dynamic song, with an Olvo-style signature beat (Arp 128, Never Give Up). 
A sort of orchestral boom bap with some field recordings on the background.  Somewhere between Hip Hop and Electronica, with a brief detour into Cumbia and a sublime clarinet theme in the second half. 

From the very start, Makeda's captivating voice sets the tone : « We are part of that biodiversity thing too, and preserving all that means preserving ourself. »

Never Give Up (feat. Magic Malik) is a positive and sparkling song balanced between future pop, abstract hip hop and electro including Olvo's arpeggios signature. 

It's the second single from the upcoming album “Limitless Possibilities”.
The lyrics in créole tells the story of a guy who's looking at some small light particles. He became blind because of them but he's happy because it was beautiful to watch and he keeps that in mind.
