The question asked in this discourse was, is it a good thing to be passionate about your work. 

Om Swami says, if you are not passionate about your work, you are doing yourself a disservice. People who are not passionate about their work will never reach their maximum potential. If you are not passionate about what you do, you could never know what you could have done. You may have a dream, saying "I wish I could have done that", but unless that passion is there nothing remarkable is going to happen in your life. 

Ordinary people who do very ordinary things in life, and who have very ordinary accomplishments almost always have no passion for anything. People who make something happen in their lives are passionate about what they do. By passion, I am not suggesting all you do is work. By passion I mean you value what you have to do, and you take ownership and accountability of what you have undertaken. You actually want to do it. That's my definition of passion. You want to go that extra mile to deliver the best that you can. This is the common trait in all those who are successful.
