The question asked was-If Om Swami could shed some light on what he had said in a blog post where he mentioned that the law of attraction and the law of karma go hand in hand and people doing good can face adversities and sometimes people doing bad things can have good things happening to them in life.

Om Swami says that it is difficult to say things like this person is good or that person is bad as it’s always from an individual’s perspective on what they feel is good or bad, right or wrong. It is difficult to say if something is really wrong and therefore, it’s a futile exercise to classify people in this way. He says, most people can be so blinded by their ego that they cannot see their own mistakes and wrongdoings.
Om Swami says that for the law of attraction to work, one should concentrate on only one thing at a time. It will work for a person who is ready in all other aspects by being prepared. If a person just dreams about something without putting any effort then there will be no manifestation. When a person with a complete one-pointed focus determinedly works day and night towards their dream without accepting defeat, then the universe at some point materializes it in their world.

Link Between Law of Attraction and Karma - [Hindi]

The question asked here was - How can a householder balance between worship, his householder’s duties and happiness, all together?

Om Swami says that if a person irrespective of whether he/she is a householder, celibate or a renunciate, understands to do his/her duty like a sadhana (disciplined surrender) then they will not be unhappy. He says that there are three reasons as to why a person feels sad and disgruntled. One is that they have something or someone in their lives that they don’t want. Or, they don’t have something that they really desire. And lastly, they may feel that certain people do not qualify for good things in their life but actually have them. Om Swami says that if someone feels that others in the world are happier and better off than them, then that is sheer ignorance and an illusion. If a person learns to live his/her life with compassion towards oneself and learns to treat all work as one’s pious duty then all work will be like a sadhana. He says that a householder’s work is a sadhana which is in many ways higher than that of a renunciate. Attainment and liberation for a householder is easier compared to that of a renunciate.

How Does One Balance Spiritual and Material Life - [Hindi]

The question is that when we try to do something good then why do we face the hurdles. Why is it difficult to do good things or become a good person or walk on a right path? I think that we assume that when we are walking on a good path then everyone will support me.  Firstly, we should not expect that but more important is that a person thinks that when I walk on that path, I should not face any adversities. If you observe, it takes a lot of effort when you have to climb up a mountain. To do something good, it involves hard work and effort. Yes, if you have to fall, there is no hurdle. You can easily slide down. 

A work that does not involve an effort is a work leading to downfall. The person thinks that if I am going up on a path there should be no obstacle. But if you have to climb up, then one time you will have to make an effort to climb, you have to try hard. Otherwise, you cannot go up.  You cannot move forward if you don’t make an effort. A path that does not have hurdles is not worth walking.

The question is what is the easiest way to attain peace? The foremost easiest way to be at peace is to stop listening to your mind. When you don’t listen to your mind, it is quiet and at peace. The mind makes a noise when it is being heard. If you want to understand mind, you have to think of a small child. When a child is making a noise, the parents may be doing their work, they may be watching TV or even fighting with each other and it will still be okay if the child is making the noise. However, as soon as they direct their attention towards the child, he will start doing things that the child was not doing before. The child’s accomplished his aim. He wanted the parents to give attention and time to him and that’s what the parents did. 

Similarly, when the mind talks and if you listen to it, the mind will start saying it louder. This is mind’s primary aspect. If someone said something to you that you did not like, it will start saying all negative things about that person.
