B. Krause's 'acoustic niche hypothesis' claims that songbirds in community avoid occupying the same frequencies in order to be heard. This creating an acoustic spread or orchestration from very low to very high frequencies. It follows that the more participants the greater the need to adapt and spread out. 

This recording captures some a great variety of wetland birdsong taking part in dusk/evening orchestration in the heart of the Doñana National Park. It also includes ambient sounds and a nearby cockerel.

Dawn chorus in the pastoral landscape deep in the forest of Los Alcornocales. I am using the native PM1 Centrance microphones rather than my usual MS set up.

Truck drivers moving over the Guadalquivir sounding like a deranged horn section ....an musical event coloured by imitating right-wing mobilizations in the US and Canada. More substantially serious male tooting indicated some Freudian expressionism rendered mechanical. The irony of these gas guzzling fests throughout the country suffering from high fuel prices was not lost on many people.

A sublime donkey exorcism with anthropologist Prof. Michael Taussig. This sonic collage is a baroque complement his own use of the 'cut up' method. It aims to render at a higher caliber his own exuberant fugue-trance through eco-mimesis and excess. Composed as an homage to the eminent anthropologist.
