Hexer - Plunge

Gem Records return with an excellent three tracker by Stefan Weise. It is the first Ep from the Italian born Colorado resident since his critically acclaimed ‘The Tales We Tell Our Children’  album. 

The Prodigal Son is a nod to Steve Rachmad’s ‘Son of Norma’ (released as Norma G in 1993). Dutch techno in the nineties was a big inspiration to Stefan Weise. His Gem Records EP is written as a homage to the music that came from the Netherlands in that era.

Unlike most dancefloor music producers, Weise enjoys to be surrounded by tranquil nature instead of the big city. He built his studio by hand in the basement of his Colorado mountain house. “ It’s beautiful, serene, relaxing… The perfect work environment for me. It’s only you and nature with no distractions.”

From this restful place came Stefan Weise’s Prodigal Son EP which is set to disrupt the peace on any dancefloor exposed to it. Extremely funky and powerful with a meticulously sculpted and smooth low-end which according to the producer is achieved with dynamic EQing and the right sonic spacing.  

With Gem Records set to release EPs by DJ Lion, Ramon Tapia, SQL and Transcode over the next few months, these are heady times for a label that continues to be rewarded for its consistent and innovative approach to contemporary electronic music.

Unrilis is a heavyweight techno label originally set up by Italys Rino Cerrone, and its new release is
from Greek artist Spiros Kaloumenos.
Spiros Kaloumenos is one of the people who helped pioneer techno and DJ culture in Greece, and he has made many notable releases on highly respected techno labels such as Christian Smith's Tronic,
Markantonio's AnalyticTrail, Florian Meindls FLASH and the highly influential Planet Rhythm as well as his own Focus Records.
Alongside the two hard hitting original tracks is a remix from German maestro Drumcomplex, who is one of the most consistent techno artists around right now. Many know his releases on labels such as
Carl Coxs Intec and Andre Croms OFF Recordings, plus he is a highly sought after remix artist with this EP being fine example of his honed talents.
Blocks Of Life gets the EP going with its hypnotic acid pulses, and Drumcomplex reworks a toughened version with added drama and peak time appeal. The EP is finished off with the machine
funk of Scripta Manent and its pounding groove is the perfect party starter.
