'Oh Child of Mine'' is the newest single from rapper, poet, artist and writer Omar Musa. 'Oh Child of Mine’ is an exploration of generation, resilience, recovery and “papering up the cracks in my soul with gold leaf.”

“This song is about how rock bottom doesn’t necessarily have to be a trapdoor, but can be a trampoline,” explains Omar. “It’s about finding gold in the shadow, and a reminder to myself to be brave, despite the million fears I wake up with each morning. I hope that it gives listeners strength to face their own fears, demons and addictions. I’m so proud of it.”

“Dead Centre” is a menacing, minimalist, trap-tinted banger by Malaysian-Australian rapper Omar Musa. Produced by Joelistics (Elefant Traks), it is based around a quote by German film director Werner Herzog and is dedicated to so-called “outsiders” of society, whether they be artists or ethnic minorities. Dealing with the uncertainties of modern Australia, from racism to surveillance, it is a defiant anthem.

“Assimilate”, the second single from Omar Musa’s full length album “Since Ali Died”, is a war cry. Over a new wave beat by Papertoy, this is an important and timely moment of defiance and solidarity, challenging the notions of what it means to “fit into” modern Australia. Featured on the track is a blistering verse from Gumbayngirr rapper Tasman Keith. “Since Ali Died” will be release on December 1st.

Omar Musa is a Bornean-Australian rapper, poet, author and visual artist from Queanbeyan, Australia. He has released four four hip-hop records (including Since Ali Died), four poetry books (including Killernova),  and received a standing ovation at TEDx Sydney at the Sydney Opera House. He was named one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Young Novelists of the Year in 2015. His one-man play, “Since Ali Died”, won Best Cabaret Show at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2018. He has had several solo exhibitions of his woodcut prints. He has performed at venues such as the Brixton Academy in London and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He has shared the stage with Kae Tempest and Daniel Merriweather, and collaborated with the likes of Horrorshow, B Wise, Birdz, Tasman Keith and Kate Miller-Heidke.
