Across two mammoth, critically acclaimed compilations Berlin-based Musician and DJ Curses' Next Wave Acid Punx series has shone a blacklight onto the darker side of club music. Featuring tracks from the 1970s right up to the present day made by both musical legends and up and coming talents alike, Curses has expertly threaded the needle between Experimental Pop, Post Punk, EBM, Electro, Techno and more to produce a stunning alternative history of clubland. 

But, as every good digger knows, there's always more gems to uncover and so once again Curses has crowbarred open the electronic music's vaults to bring us four more long forgotten tracks, each one "Revamped" for maximum Dancefloor effect with Curses himself providing 2 edits alongside precision tooled reworks from Melbourne based Stockholm Syndrome and NYC's Andi.

Originally released in 1988, House Fatale is a classic example of just how fast electronic music was evolving back then, bringing together elements of Electro, Freestyle, House and more amongst a riot of samples, all elements Curses retains whilst nudging the tempo and giving the track a harder edge.

The Time Capsule EP is an electrifying collaborative release from one of our favourite artists, Kay-Chi, alongside his trusted friend and creative ally, Keymon. The pair deliver a powerful two-track journey that captures their artistic synergy and shared vision.

The opening track, Time Capsule, is a dark and driving masterpiece designed to ignite any dance floor. With pulsating rhythms and atmospheric textures, it’s as hypnotic as it is energizing—setting the tone for this compelling release. 

On the second track, Untold Truth, Kay-Chi teams up with Frank Brady for a remarkable collaboration. This track seamlessly blends their styles, resulting in hauntingly intense melodies and a deep, driving bassline that leaves a lasting impression.

Adding further depth to the release are two stunning remixes from exciting new artists on the label. Vladsylav Putistin delivers a punchy, club-ready reimagining of Time Capsule, while Alberto Melloni makes his debut with a captivating interpretation of Untold Truth, bringing his distinctive style to the label for the first time.

Ackerman's debut EP on Play Pal opens with the high-octane title track, "More & Faster" a dynamic mix of mid-paced percussion, syncopated arpeggios, robotic vocals, and sharp snares.

Next up is "Time Machine," a moody, synth-driven track that offers psychedelic dark grooves, punctuated by stuttering vocals and 303s. Meanwhile, "Can We Rewind Time" stomps forward with a heavy bassline and pulsating sound waves, building to a fiery climax.

Adding depth to the release are label friends and frequent Play Pal contributors Mufti, Leonor and TYU, each bringing their unique stamps to the originals.

Mufti’s rework of "More & Faster" strips back the original, retaining the hypnotic mantra, while adding new layered synth lines that heighten the tension throughout the track. Leonor’s darker take on "Time Machine" introduces a menacing funk, complete with a tempo-slowing breakdown before the latin vocal (a personal addition of his), kicks back in with force.

TYU rounds off Ackerman's kinetic collection with his signature blend of percussive acid bubbling, congas, and 303s, delivering an electrifying finish to the EP.

First up from Curses is his Revamp of Deborah Sasson’s (Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes, a curio from the wildly inventive mid late 80s that saw the American opera singer collaborate with German producers MCL (MicroChipLeague). A European chart topper on its original release, it's long since languished in obscurity but in Curses' hands is now ready to once again add more than a touch of melodrama to dancefloors.  

For his second edit, Curses reworks J.W.B. Hits The Beat's House Fatale, having previously taken a razor to their Body On Body track on Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX. Originally released in 1988, House Fatale is a classic example of just how fast electronic music was evolving back then, bringing together elements of Electro, Freestyle, House and more amongst a riot of samples, all elements Curses retains whilst nudging the tempo and giving the track a harder edge.

Sticking with the same Westside label that gave us House Fatale, Stockholm Syndrome turns his attention to Voyou's Houseman. Or, as it happens, the 1988 edit by LA's Razormaid that first honed its edges for club play and merged the title track with its b-side. The resulting edit rejuvenates this classic slice of late Cold War club music, its pounding beat, portentous strings and the repeated overdriven vocal refrain of Germany Calling perfect for basement clubs today, in Berlin and beyond. 

Finally to complete the EP we have sample-heavy 1988 cut Not Leaving Without Jerry by Belgian duo Marc Borgions & Jo Lijnen aka Philadelphia Five. Originally produced by Luc Van Acker, (better known for his work with the likes of Front 242, Ministry and Revolting Cocks), the track has been handed over to NYC producer Andi, who ups the tempo and hones in on the rhythm section, putting the focus on the staccato drums and throbbing bass line the focal point now and creating a perfect soundtrack for sweat lashed bodies.   Together these four tracks revisit a moment in clubland when the rules were still being written, as Curses explains. "This was a pivotal moment where all genres were still evolving, figuring out what sounds would eventually become staple elements of one another which gave it all this naive, innocent and punk feel. You’ve got Trance arpeggios, those heavy snares of early EBM, chopped vocals in the style of Chicago and NY formative House music all mixed with Electrofunk and percussive Latin freestyle grooves. A time when we were dancing without boundaries, something very much in the spirit of Next Wave Acid Punx.”

FCKDSKO Releases Auditory Pareidolia Induction, A Techno EP That Tricks The Senses

Denver-based producer FCKDSKO returns with Auditory Pareidolia Induction, a hypnotic techno EP that draws directly from the psychological phenomenon in its title—auditory pareidolia, the brain’s tendency to perceive illusory sounds that don’t exist, like voices, harmonies, or melodies inside existing sounds. 

This concept becomes a compositional tool across three immersive tracks that explore how repetition, distortion, and modulation can trick the ear, pushing listeners to hear beyond what’s actually present.

The opening track, “Auditory,” sets the tone with industrial undertones and a rolling hypnotic pulse. Jazzy cymbals flicker against cascading effects, while distorted synths rise and recede in waves. Patterns seem to form within the chaos—phantom melodies and rhythms emerge, then vanish. It’s a shifting soundscape built for deep focus and altered perception.

“Pareidolia” is a broken-beat detour with a funkier swing. Its centerpiece is a Reese pad so heavily modulated it feels organic—warm, brassy, almost like a baritone saxophone. This pad can create auditory illusions of harmony and motion when juxtaposed against the ghastly, undulating pads that swell and shrink throughout the composition. It’s dissociative and deeply satisfying, inviting repeated listens to decode its layers.

The closing track, “Induction,” channels acid and melody through a slow-building arc. Crisp percussion anchors the evolving synth work, as the track crescendos toward a wall-of-sound climax infused with breaks and harmonic saturation. By the end, you’re not sure if what you’re hearing is truly there—or just your mind connecting the dots.

FCKDSKO is a genreless manifestation of distorted, reverb-laden dance music, typically dark and atmospheric but guided by a love for all forms of psychedelic expression. That experimental lens defines his approach: unbound by dance music convention, he draws from techno, ambient, breaks, and even minimal classical composition. This boundaryless style has earned praise from artists like Takaaki Itoh, Pan-Pot, Slam, Alexander Kowalski, Noir, Marco Bailey, and Dimi Angelis.

His tracks have appeared on underground tastemaker platforms including HATE, 6AM, ballacid, Ltd, W/Lbl, and Les Yeux Orange, while sharing lineups with forward-thinking selectors like Christian Smith, Exos, Neel, Tin Man, and Pig & Dan. FCKDSKO is also a resident of Nocturnal, a Denver-based collective known for its cutting-edge sonic curation.

With Auditory Pareidolia Induction, FCKDSKO invites listeners into an altered state—where sound deceives, rhythms blur, and hallucinations arise not from what’s present, but from what the mind wants to hear.
