Gate-kept by the world’s most dominating forces, the landscape of creator-fan interaction has been stretched thin. In exchange: to be seen and heard for a mere blip in time-- at the ultimate demand and benefit of the algorithm. Having consumed society, there may not be a sector that isn’t reliant on the algorithmic circus of attention seeking now necessitated for its survival. Cue desperation.

We are all livestock at the data farm. Here, the loudest and fattest cows produce the most value for our industrial owners, fertilizing the ‘feed’ that we all incessantly graze on.

Despite it being rabidly exploited, the desire to be recognized and validated is innocently and necessarily human. As is survival within the society we never chose to be born into.

Grappling the tight rope between introverted artistry and algorithmic conformity, PLEASE INTERACT WITH MY CONTENT is both satirical commentary and a raw display of vulnerability.

"Sluice Box Tavern" is the first song released from the forthcoming new EP by CONTACT FIELD ORCHESTRA "Mapping The Futures Gone By" [HNR55] on HIT+RUN.

"Mapping The Futures Gone By" furthers CONTACT FIELD ORCHESTRA's exploration of dubby broken percussion and haunting found sounds.   Sirens and lasers accent plaintive woodwind arrangements set against mbiras and bluesy guitars.  Fitting in a time and place that's uniquely it's own, MTFGB is a travelogue to a lucid dream, a mining expedition or a trip to space--somehow nostalgic and familiar, yet somehow not at all.

This 6-track EP is the fourth release from CONTACT FIELD ORCHESTRA with HIT+RUN ("Volume 1", "Volume 2", plus the cassette-only H+R Mixtape from 2012).  CFO has also appeared on Giles Peterson's seminal compilation series "Brownswood Bubblers Vol. 10", and contributed to Ninja Tune's popular "Solid Steel" mix series.  

CONTACT FIELD ORCHESTRA is produced by Southern California musician & artist Damon Aaron.  In 2008 he came across a box of 7" tapes at an estate sale in Altadena that turned out to be field recordings of a turn-of-the century orchestra of ex-miners; recorded almost entirely with hand-made instruments and contact microphones.  This became the source material for this collection of celebrated releases with HIT+RUN.   

"Mapping The Futures Gone By" is available in two very distinct limited-edition green/bronze & green/black heavy-splattered 10" vinyl, each housed in a one-of-a-kind hand silkscreened jackets printed by Hit+Run in downtown Los Angeles. Limited pressing of only 400 copies!

Had so much fun down at envision 2017 working on the build crew for 3 weeks and getting to play this set on the Luna Stage, built by the amazing peeps from The Reliquarium!!!   Such an amazing gathering all the way around, big ups to the Site Ops and Production crews for putting in 110%!!!
