hi angels! I recorded this lil ramble in my car last night mostly as a way to get myself started w the podcast I've been dreaming about for months. the first official episode is coming up in just a few days and will be more of a fleshed out intro to who I am, what I do, and the topics I'll be hoping to cover in future episodes! I also intend to interview folks who are involved in my field of work, w/ those who live w trauma + severe mental illness, and w/ people I've known for years who are just all around fascinating babes that I love having long, winding freeform conversations with.

:: OMEN FORMATION :: a post traumatic symptom often developed during childhood that causes one to believe they can predict future events in order to avoid additional trauma

hello friends, I’m back w a new episode of Omen Formation ✨ rather than doing a formal introduction to the person I am today, I took a cue from what I’ve been working through in therapy and chose to talk about some of what has *shaped* who I am today.

this episode covers my very personal experience w a traumatic birth, maladaptive attachment to my mom, gaslighting, pain invalidation, disability, chronic illness, ed/weight, death, hypochondria, and a few other things that may trigger anxiety in some folks. please take care of yourself if you choose to listen. I’m mindful of my language but because it's still my personal history being discussed, I just want to gently remind everyone that I’m not an expert on anything but my own perspective, and that this podcast isn’t featuring Saint Chiron — it’s featuring me. 

that being said, thank you to everyone who chooses to listen to me open up about things I typically try not to even think about let alone speak out loud. I’m so excited to be doing this work for myself, excavating my triggers and responses while exposing my past with candid compassion for myself. I hope in doing so I will help guide you toward extending the same kind of compassion for yourself and what you hold in your body.

Episode #1: Silencing the Body as a Response to Trauma

This week's episode has me reflecting on extremely personal stories about unhealthy behaviors I've exhibited and the relationships in my life that suffered as a result. I also talk about the impulsivity and emotional intensity that contributed to getting multiple tattoos for people that are no longer in my life. I connect a lot of what happened in these past friendship breakups to problematic aspects of my alcoholism (I'm now in recovery) and as a result of undiagnosed mental illnesses, however these are not excuses for being a shitty friend -- they are simply reasons why I was at the time unable to do the work that I needed to in order to take accountability. It's taken years of therapy, trauma work, medication and spiritual growth to get me to where I am now and I'm happy to say the handful of relationships I have now are all ones that rely on honesty, compassion and understanding -- from both parties! -- while leaving space for disagreements, etc. to show up without ending the friendship all together. Ofc this isn't to say I'm some kind of friend expert! in the episode I discuss how I still have issues with creating boundaries as I enter into new friendships. But ultimately what I've learned is that while escapism is seductive when I'm uncomfortable, it's mostly an easy way to prolong my own growth and hurt others in the process. These days, I choose communication and authenticity above *everything* else, and it has never once failed me.
