Toronto-based talent Mustafa Ismaeel inaugurates Rebellion’s 2022 release schedule in January with the four-track EP Right Here. It marks his first output on the label and sets the tone for a highlight year ahead.

Mustafa spoke on what the release represents, stating: “This EP captures the essence and versatility of the music I play and create. Crossing multiple genres and styles, yet they all share the two main aspects of my music: groove and emotion."

The title track leads the charge, taking the form of a gently-building dance cut as glistening hats converge on sweeping kick-hat pairings. Darkest Love soon arrives, a collaborative effort between Mustafa and Toronto/Ibiza based artist Hoomance. It warms with a gentle lucidity, as dream-like pads meld into ethereal vocal tones, before Messing Around takes its place. Four-four drum patterns cosy up next to echoing lyrical samples, paving the way for the final piece: Hindsight. Emotive and soothing, it retains an inherent club-ready feel - the perfect match for opening or closing a performance.

Based in the thriving cultural hub of Toronto, DJ and producer Mustafa Ismaeel is an artist that consistently redefines musical boundaries. Born in Iraq, growing up in India and maturing in Canada, the Deep House Toronto founder has released on several of contemporary house’s leading imprints, including Steyoyoke, Manual and Dream Cultur to name a few. Now, Right Here marks the biggest release of his career so far, showcasing him as a standout tastemaker in today’s scene.

Ahead of his much anticipated debut album which will be released later this year, multi-instrumentalist, DJ & Producer Clemente teases us with the first and long-awaited single entitled 'Shesawa' in collaboration with Spanish master-mind Yamil.

The track is driven by a solemn and catchy spiritual dialogue, bristling melodies and grounded by burning percussions that take us into a unique experience that travels into the roots of the earth and the unknown, this immersive journey is a rebirth of the mind and soul, manifested through the prophecy of the ancestral sound.

Clemente is a spanish producer and DJ who has committed his whole life to music. After spending his past years embracing numerous musical projects, he finally jumped into the electronic music industry, unifying his passion for synths and tribal sounds in an artistic audiovisual concept.

His vibrating tracks bring together the classic sounds of the most avant garde deep house mixing them with groovy rhythms, creating electrical atmospheres and mind blowing melodies. Always loyal to the pure club sound, he conceives a magical blend of black soul, energy dance music and exotic shades, influenced by the underground vibes of Berlin and the spirituality of other native cultures from Spain. He experiments with and cruises through every music genre in his own personal corner, his studio located near the Mediterranean coast of Valencia. Implementing into his tracks the sound of his piano, guitar, bass and percussion, with the philosophy of inspiring other souls with his music.

Yamil has been delivering high quality House and Deep House for the last years, steadily forging his reputation as a DJ, Producer, Label Owner and Artist with a unique musical visioning. Currently based between Madrid and Aranda de Duero (Burgos) his personal sound travels across the globe creating special moments through his original music or dj sets. Driven by his passion and desire to improve, the artist has been dropping a bunch of music on acclaimed labels such as Sol Selectas, Monaberry, MoBlack or Borders of Light, refining his own sound and unleashing all his creativity without imposed restrictions or limitations by the dominant trends, creating 'something unique and different'.

The slow tempo of both originals creates a special atmosphere that is clearly distinguishable from today’s deep house tracks. Despite their downbeat motions the strict grooves and the analogue soundscapes makes you and your audience move at once.

On remix duties we proudly present our label’s Russian artists. Arina Mur’s reinterpretation is another nice proof of her extraordinary producing skills, her remix delivers a perfect mixture of the best part of booth deep and afro house genres.

Fairtone’s remix also gave new life to the original, the tricky bassline and the techy elements make this track a real dancefloor groover.

Sol Selectas presents the first solo EP from Israeli artist Laroz, who has previously been featured on the Summer Sol compilation series. 
Laroz's genuine passion for African music inspired this EP, which is a fusion of traditional ethnic rhythms and organic house beats. “Miombo” refers to the woodlands which cover several portions of the South-Central African Plateau, and the enchanting vocals naturally combine with the raw electronic groove. 'Laganga' features the amazing vocals of Faytinga, an Eritrean artist. The deep house chords marry perfectly with her emotional vocals, and we can feel the passion of both artists transmitted through the song. For the remix of “Miombo”, we welcome Sam Shure from Berlin for his first time on the label. Sam delivers a peak-time afro tech gem, focusing his sites on the tribal drums, creating a mind-blowing rendition complete with a breakdown which is pure psychedelic madness. On “Laganga”, we invited our dear friend Rodrigo Gallardo (formerly of Matanza) from Chile, to remix this heart-opening tune. Rodrigo delivers a gorgeous downtempo interpretation, skilfully finessing the vocals of Faytinga, adding a live marimba groove, and as well some subtle modular effects. His remix maintains all the emotion and beauty of the original, and rounds out the release package nicely with a soothing alternative for listeners to enjoy. The artwork by Helia Jamali is a union of the lush African nature and the cultural creativity of its beautiful people.
