After teasing a trio of huge monthly singles from across the gamut of 140bpm, Sub Merchants unveil a 9-track feature-length EP ‘Ridley Road’. Available both digitally, and backed by a full run of 12” vinyl - this EP sees each of the lead singles supported by a killer set of B-side tracks from Distinct Motive, Fearless Dread, and Hella x Logan. 

Distinct Motive brings a more refined, but nonetheless impressive showcase of his signature bass stylings from the hands-up anthem ‘WY’. ‘Therapy’ leads in with eerie gothic chants before dropping into a rolling, chugging bassline. The track continues to swell and builds into pulsating and nostril rattling bass stabs, as the chants reach their unnerving crescendo. This one is truly a journey… strap in. 

Following his collaboration with Logan on ‘Chattings’, rising star Hella flies solo on his offering of ‘Low Rider’. The catchy hook leads the opening of the track, counting down into a bass-driven ‘RKO’ (straight outta nowhere!), interspersed by switches and plonks from the hook that keep the track flitting on the border between a roller and straight screw-face business. 

The dynamic duo Fearless Dread keep up the pressure following the sonic assault of their A-side single, ’Sucker Punch’ with a hectic shuffling 2-step number, ‘Light Em’. The track leads in with the pair’s signature crisp percussive stylings, adorned with plenty of swing, before dropping into full throttle lurch of bass and moody synths. This one is really made for peak energy hours in very dark rooms… you have been warned. 

If this wasn’t enough, there is also a trio of remixes available digitally from Oxossi, Mincy and Logan, with the latter flipping his own track ‘Chattings’ with Hella. Once again The Sub Merchants continue to solidify their foothold of the UK bass music scene with this latest offering, and their first full run of 12” vinyl.

After a year's stint of delivering an array of bass-heavy flavours during difficult times, ec2a continues to push boundaries in the scene and is quick to provide yet another release that is aptly ready for the dance. The Dr has been sure to pick up the pace, and rightly so, as this selection takes us back to what can only be described as that ‘90’s jungle mania’ - when the rave was first popping off. 

Who better to be behind the buttons than Bristol-based powerhouse Roy Bar, having had well-received releases on labels such as CNCPT and Locus Sound and whose audacious productions have recently become a testament to the city's underground scene. After teasing us with a free download ‘The Right Way’, Roy Bar kicks off with his latest version of ‘Ode’ (A-side), as he brings to us a think-break-filled steady roller that has been brewing in the archives for a hot minute. Yet it remains timeless and now sits alongside ‘Dangerous’ (B-side) which boasts archetypal jungle with a melodic synth twist. 

As we re-enter the rave, this release is essential to the nostalgic notion of electronic bass music. Go cop and make history.

London-based producer @Holloway-95 debuts his first 140 project on @earfulofwax, sounding fresh out the mid-naughties, expect club rattling subs in the form of stripped-back Dubstep pressure. The EP showcases an elating, garage-influenced, forward-thinking sound somehow nostalgic and yet also completely new.

‘Levitate’ kicks off with a hypnotic, heads-down mood with
deep subs and dubbed-out vocals. At the switch-up Holloway’s idiosyncratic basslines are introduced for those gun-finger, energetic
moments in the club.

Through his affiliation with Intrinzic Music, DROMEK clearly has a penchant for pushing all manner of unique, ambitious beats, and in no place is this clearer than his own productions. Through dense landscapes of drums samples and stabs, DROMEK melds manic with melancholy, while maintaining an unmistakable footwork influence. The first single from his forthcoming release ‘Asbestos Free Cereal’ (Premiering now on Nu Kvlture) perfectly encapsulates the depth and intrigue found in his productions. 

His mix for excess provides an appropriate backdrop to this exciting release, delivering soulful jungle cuts alongside trap, frantic footwork, and hip hop, with his own productions sitting comfortably in between.
