Come On, Baby” is one of the most personal and creative songs on my album. This track came from me wanting to bring every part of my identity and background into one record. I am mixed race and I have Irish heritage, and for the first time I wanted to show how those cultures live together in my music.

The inspiration hit after I watched the movie Sinners by Ryan Coogler. The film touched on how music is the universal rhythm inside us all. There was a moment where the main character, who had Irish roots, felt a real connection to the struggles and the spirit of the black community. That opened my eyes and sent me deep into research about the history between Irish immigrants and the black community in early America. I learned they shared a lot of the same pain and were treated in similar ways. There was a bond there that most people never talk about.

Around the same time I saw videos where people were saying redheads have a genetic link to Africans. Then TikTok had a whole trend where the black community and redheads were showing love and calling each other cousins. Redheads were opening up about being bullied and the black community was embracing them in return. It was powerful to see that kind of connection. It reminded me how much different cultures overlap in ways nobody expects.

That made me start listening to traditional Irish music. I found out that a lot of Celtic songs were already loved in the black community in the United States and people did not even realize the artists were Irish. That made everything click. The rhythm, the pain, the joy, the storytelling. These cultures have been influencing each other for a long time.

So when I made “Come On, Baby,” I wanted to honor both sides of my heritage. The beat blends trap soul, R and B, pop energy, Celtic strings, and even a touch of opera in the harmonies. I listened to artists like Ed Sheeran to understand how he mixes folk roots with pop songwriting, then I brought my own style and story into it.

The lyrics come from real memories. Nights with someone I had a deep connection with. Moments of growth. The glow up. The chemistry. Every song on my album is based on something I lived, something I believe, or something connected to my culture.

“Come On, Baby” is not just a genre blend. It is a piece of my history. It is me celebrating where I come from and who I am becoming. If the song feels familiar and new at the same time, that is exactly why. It is built on two worlds that have always been closer than people think.
