After her stunning release on our deeper House focused Karakul label, we are over the moon to welcome back Swiss producer Lea Lisa on our main Phonica imprint.

The ‘Love To The End EP’ takes influence and inspiration from a particular early 90s UK Techno rarity by Mark Goddard titled ‘The End’ (The Truth EP), a beautiful and emotive take on the classic sound of UK Techno that’s been much loved and highly sought after for decades, even being a particular favourite of Aphex Twin. It’s an ode to the original, rather than a remix or cover. The two mixes re-imagine the sound of soulful and deep Techno, combining driving basslines and drum machine grooves with atmospheric and nostalgic synth lines.

On the A-Side’s ‘Manchester Club Mix’, the focus is laser focused on peaktime dancefloors with a slowly building level of euphoria matched with rolling drums until the breakdown chills the mood and the plucky, earth shaking bassline returns before the tension is released and the melodies float effort- lessly around the pounding rhythm.

Over on the B-Side, the ‘Sunset Mix’ jacks up the drums with kicks and claps that shake your spine. The bassline rolls steadily throughout the mix but the melodic lines this time are more restrained, introspective and subtle, echoing and harking to past rave memories with ease...

Norwegian artist Third Attempt continues on a roll with his stunning new EP entitled ‘Soul Lifting’. The effervescent show man again works his compositional magic across four compelling tracks. Steadily turning heads since they began appearing in 2018. Now a cherished member of the Beatservice Records family, the artist has proven himself one of the most inspired artists to have emerged from Norway's rich, meta-disco lineage in recent times. Effortlessly gliding through genres, his distinctive sound expertly blends nu-disco, funk, trip-hop, electronica, and house setting him apart from the rest of the field.
'Love Star' finds TA in typically inspired form. Imaginatively skirting stylistic boundaries, as he elegantly layers atmospheric vocal chops and dexterous musical refrains. Unfolding over a broken rhythm, summery chords are embellished by carefree horns and strings. 'Keep Your Head Up' demonstrates his flair for sampling, as hip-hop vocals and scratches dart over soothing keys, strings, and horns. Supported by thick bass and breaks, the arrangement elegantly unfolds as soulful vocals add mystique to the groove. Continuing the soul-heavy flex, the heartfelt refrains of 'This Love' see searing vocals and whispered words float across a life-affirming musical bed. Sparkling keys saunter over seductive chords as crisp, broken drums carry the groove. 'Believe' sees out the collection, the sumptuous track combines harmonic allure with a stirring tempo. Disco guitar licks saunter over strings and piano chords, the soul-rich vocal embellishes the melody as crisp house drums power the rhythm home.
The 'Soul Lifting EP' is yet more breathtaking work from Third Attempt. Vividly displaying the very essence of his signature sound, sure to enhance his already glowing reputation. Simply unmissable.

Following the 2018 release of a 12″ preview sampler, BBE Music is excited to present the album ‘A Taste of Chicago’, a compilation of classic house edits by Jamie 3:26.

Hailing from Beverly on the South Side of Chicago, Jamie 3:26 is an artist driven by a deep desire to get people moving in the dance.

A Chi-Town vibe is always the focus for the master selector and producer who’s capable of lighting up dance-floors around the world and that ethos shines through on this compilation, featuring a collection of tracks giving listeners a true insight into the sound, culture and style of the Windy City.

The compilation sees classic tracks by the likes of Chip E, Quest and more get a serious Jamie 3:26 twist, with edits that not only capture the best of celebrated eras gone by, but point to the future too.
