A regular contributor to the Proton Music catalogue, Michael A continues to find himself at the forefront of underground dance music, now returning with the 4-track "Fantasy" EP.

As prolific as he is talented, Michael A has been a central figure in the progressive house scene with occasional forays into melodic techno and electronica. Since a 2012 debut for Stereofaza, the Belarusian has seen almost 900 production credits against his name for a formidable array of high-profile imprints that include Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat, Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital and Cid Inc.'s Replug. Moreover, Michael's own Genesis Music imprint has been a vital source of music for both himself and a leading band of new and established artists. Support for a growing portfolio of releases has come from industry's leading DJs and tastemakers that include Guy J, Nick Warren, Max Graham and Cattaneo himself.

Making an early appearance on the seasonal Particles compilation series in Winter 2014, his "Behind the Moon" EP followed in March that year. Making his way on to Proton Music in 2017, the twin-track, "Bright Hope" began a very special relationship with the label that has seen a further five original offerings pepper the Proton catalogues. Indeed, "Symbol", "My Style", "Aura Tears" and "Geometria" has continued to showcase Michael A's music between 2017 and 2019, before the twin original tracks of "Twinkling Stars" shone brightly in April 2020 alongside remixes from Matter and Desaturate.

Now returning with another collection of original music, "Fantasy, Vol. 1" marks a new chapter that follows in the footsteps laid by the likes of Erdi Irmak, Rick Pier O'Neil and Hot TuneiK as a way to develop a musical narrative across a series of releases showcasing Michael's original work and remixes from other high-calibre artists. "Vol. 1" opens with a quartet of new tracks with "Slipflow" immediately displaying Michael A's penchant for driving rhythms and immaculate bass groove before richly stratified melodic layers ripple across the 8-minute piece. Shimmering arpeggios and dramatic chord constructions blend seamlessly, before the darker vibe of "Silent Moments" provides a sinister edge. Heavy with bouncing bassline groove, smooth melodies coruscate in ever-expanding patterns to a rousing mid-point crescendo of sound before dropping back into familiar groove and gradually developing melodic phrasing.

The subtle energy of "Flyaway" ripples enticingly forward atop cleverly programmed hi-hat and shaker cadence. Hitting its stride with consummate ease a glorious melodic evolution sees the track provide a moment of understated magic and delayed keys shimmer in overlapping delays over a growling and sustained bass note. The title track itself is another richly textured affair that bristles with chugging percussive groove and heavy metronomic beat. Waxing and waning throughout, subtle melodies meander delicately across the upper-mid range, redolent in reverb and delay before a subtle rise in energy in the third movement creates a platform for all elements to combine to mesmerising effect in the second half.

Four new tracks find Michael A offering a magical moment of "Fantasy" on Proton Music.

Greek wisdom ripples across Lake Kerkini to recognise "The Rise" of Simos Tagias. Melodic shards resonate through the cool mountain air and jagged rhythmic backdrop juts out among the rocky outcrop. Brilliant sonic colour emanates from Australian gems as GMJ and Matter return to familiar European waters. A bassline firmly anchored in the bedrock provides a foundation for rippling arpeggios and twinkling keys to reverberate across the valley in endless waves.

Argentina mines another successful partnership in the form of EANP. Soaring skywards, "The Rise" hits new heights where familiar patterns are fused into fresh sonic formations that stretch out in pulsating configurations. A newcomer clicks into gear with popping percussive framework as another alley debutant combines innovation with craftsmanship. Organic sounds are sculpted into imaginative electronic waveforms as new melodic sequences and glissando bassline are bent to impressive Australian will via Barbour.

'Operating out of his Cordoba home at the base of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has been a consistently impressive performer with a string of high-profile releases. A 2018 debut for PHW Elements was soon followed by work for MNL, UV and August 2020's three-track "Cordoba" EP for onedotsixtwo. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, his music has received support from a raft of high-rollers that include Cid Inc., Aly and Fila, and fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo. A Proton Music debut remixing Hot TuneiK's "Circles of You" in June 2019 is now followed by a twin-track debut that opens with the sparkling "Jinsei". Redolent in dynamic percussive rhythms, a similarly cadenced synth line and syncopated bassline provide additional groove before an earworm motif reveals itself. Waxing and waning over the 11-minute magnum opus, counterpoint string phrasing adds subtlety and guile. The rhythmic prowess of "Zen State" is immediately apparent as a sumptuous bassline supplies depth with its gated pattern. Before long, a richly delayed synth line makes an appearance that repeats pre and post-breakdown while an additional free-flowing synth and smooth pad captures a joyous mood.'

Presenting the title track, ‘Miles” is a beautiful melodic craft with an emotional harmony accompanied by well thought groove and amazing sound design. An introspective smooth female vocal puts the cherry on top of this gem.

On the Remix duties we have Malandra Jr. The Italian has releases on labels such as Diynamic and Stil Vor Talent and makes his Timeless Moment debut with a very strong progressive version of miles, just perfect for that peak time dance floor vibes.

Another remixes come from the debuts of the Barcelona based artists Sarcasmo and Main Leaf. Sarcasmo Remix is another peak time option with techno elements, while Main Leaf brings a darker borderline Electronica version to wrap up this amazing release. Enjoy!

Premiere: HOKI - The Walls Can Talk (Deeparture Remix)

Born in Chile but now Buenos Aires based, Paula shot into the electronic music spotlight in 2016 with her vocal work on Jos & Eli’s ‘Walking On Water’. Released through long standing German imprint Einmusika, it set the course for what has been a remarkable two year stretch. Paula has since gone on to collaborate with some of progressive music’s most esteemed talents in Antrim and Kamilo Sanclemente. 2017 saw Sound Avenue label boss Madloch introduce Paula’s sublime vocals into his well received Magician On Duty single ‘Deserts & Snow’. A friendship and mutual respect developed between the two artists, eventually leading to Paula’s first and much anticipated solo single in 2019 courtesy of Sound Avenue, alongside remixes from Powel and Adam Nathan.
