The deep unknown series is a collection of releases where Architecture Recordings invites artists from around the globe to explore the full spectrum of drum and bass sound. The names of these special producers will remain unknown to the listener and they will only have access to the music exclusively. These unique releases will give a more in-depth approach to the “ARX” sound and focus solely on the musical concepts within each volume. The purpose of this project is to get back to the music!

Mafs - After Dark Radio 25 -Sunday 20th October

It seems that there's no stopping Astral Haze, who returns with yet more intricate atmospheric beats. Number Six starts the EP with discreet techno and acid influences that hook the listener in as they bob and weave around the rolling breaks. Magicman changes the vibe to a more frenetic dub and oldskool tinged affair with bleepy melodics, chopped rhythms as more acid notes envelope the listener. Synthetic Symphony sees Astral Haze tune into a frequency from deep space as experimental tones face off with light celestial jazz to create something unique before Forgotten Frequency introduces its dreamy pads and synths that are complimented by rolling amens and chopped jungle breaks. The EP ends with Eschaton's own take on the sublime Devil Ether with evolving electro-tinged elements, floating pads and stepping beats.

Omni Music welcomes the remarkable talent of Soul Delay to the label with 4 of the deepest cuts of drum and bass you could hear. We start with Threshold with stepping breaks, lush piano drops and cavernous bass. Float takes a softer approach but loses none of the deep vibes as more classic breaks are twisted into new patterns as sublime keys and hypnotic bass create another masterpiece. The title track Shape or Colour starts with epic keyboard stabs and bleepy melodics before the thunderous beats slam in to give the listener an education into the power of drums. The EP ends on the infectious vibes of Lebanon where deep dark pads and melodies are interspersed with cutting edge chopped breaks and speaker bending bass.

All the Time begins the journey with gorgeous strings and classic breaks before exploding into a delirium of breaks and contagious bass notes. I Thought I Told You starts with discreet acid arpeggios and rolling beats as it gradually evolves into another dance-floor thumping odyssey. No Other Way starts its take with stunning pads before cleverly chopping rhythms and spellbinding bass make this another cut sure to make you move your body. The EP ends on the equally stunning title track whose ominous title belies the dreamy and head-nodding flurry of sounds to come. We don't expect to be waiting long before this master of breakbeats is back with more exquisite sounds.
