Codename: RCRDS continue a new trilogy of Various Artist releases with Distant Memories EP, which sees the label bring together a selection of the finest talents in the Atmospheric DnB scene.

The EP opens with label newcomer Microcosm who brings us ‘Journey Of A Thousand Miles’ a beautiful driving atmospheric jungle roller, full of warped bass and lush strings and pads.

Another label debutant, fast-rising TRC2, moves things into a darker direction with ‘There Is a Flame’, an ominous techy roller built for the dancefloor and the head with its intricately programmed breaks and distorted bass tones.

Things continue with Codename favourite NonRev delivering ‘As We Are’, where ominous siren-esque tones meet snappy rolling breaks and his trademark lush production.  This prolific producer continues to be one to watch.

The EP closes with a typically gorgeous roller from the inimitable Okee, interspersing catchy vocals with fresh strings and gorgeous keys and synth tones, to close this second part of the ‘Distant’ series on a high.

The prolific Perspective:R returns with 4 more atmospheric cuts that are full of nostalgic touches. The title track begins proceedings as 'Rays of R' envelopes the listener with otherworldy melodics and infectious drum work. The beauty continues with Supersonic Travelling; a relaxed cerebral journey complete with drifting space-age pads and punchy drums. Next up,  Light and Dark rolls along serenely with dynamic breaks, layers of pads and melodic twinkles before Through the Veins ends the EP, taking the listener right back to the 90's with its stuttering breaks and expressive pads.

Echo 1 makes a welcome return to Omni Music with 4 tracks of his unique uplifting musical bliss. The title track hits all the nostalgic notes you can find with a head-nodding kick drum, crisp breaks and sentimental saxophone stabs. In Focus is perfect Echo 1, rolling breakbeats, grand synth stabs and hypnotic bass. Moving Target keeps the energetic flow with more rolling rhythms, techno-inspired synth work and uplifting pads. The EP ends with the oldskool inspired relaxed breakbeat workout of The Blue, with wistful melodics and evocative pads. This is another excellent release from Echo 1, a talent that never seems to sit still for long.

Trident expertly channels the early 90’s classic era with ‘Detonator EP’, a truly epic release which brings the finest Jungle Techno energy of the genres peak and smashes it well and truly into 2023, taking you between the bright lights of the main rooms and deep into darkened sweatbox corners of the most labyrinthine underground rave.

The EP opens with the Jungle Techno monster ‘Detonator’, which guarantees dancefloor explosions like a long-lost Easygroove classic, a techno dread which stomps across all competition with its energetic mix of ominous synths and squelchy acid lines.  

The amen-led ‘Far-Away Dreams (VIP)’, builds on the hypnotic bell tones of the original track, and toughens things up to move into a heads-down dancefloor direction.

‘XTC’ showcases Trident’s burgeoning skills and creativity, with his trademark dub techno influences overlapping beautifully with euphoric rave moments for an energetic yet introspective workout.

The EP closes with ‘Detonator (Microcosm Remix), which sees the Codename: newcomer turn the original on its head with a rolling hardcore junglist remix which complements the original perfectly, and primes it for destruction in more break oriented dancefloors.

CODERCRDS015 - Trident - Detonator EP (Out 15/12/23)

Mark Kloud should need no introduction to those familiar with the deeper side of beats, from his excellent material on a plethora of great labels. He turns his unique talents to Omni Music and presents us 4 tracks of original Nu-Jungle. The title track gives an indication of things to come with its sublimely chopped jungle rhythms and sweeping pads, offering sounds to appeal to both jungle and atmos heads alike. Eastern Meteor takes the listener deeper with a relaxed intro that breaks into life with exploding breaks. Our Youth is made perfectly for the dancefloor with it's feverish amen loop and fervent pads. This fantastic EP ends with the original sounds of 'The Stars Were Never Aligned' that begins with deep electronica that carefully teases the speakers before the experimental splintered breaks and epic bass stabs launch the 2nd half of the track into the outer realms. This is another great selection of music from this huge talent and we hope to hear more from him soon.

The brand new talents of Perspective:R and Sub Motion show they have no sign of stopping their musical odysseys by this time joining forces to give Omni fans something quite special. The title track is a delightful collaboration between the 2, as classic breakbeats and seminal atmospheric sounds collide in a whirlwind of beauty. Sub Motion takes control next with the Good Looking-inspired 'Inverse Visions', another homage to the sounds of yesteryear. Perspective'R's 'Don't Go' is a beautiful relaxing journey into a world of pads and strings before Sub Motion returns with the space-faring sounds of Random Movements where tight breaks and celestial melodics spin together majestically. The EP ends with Perspective'R's take on 'Aurora's Motion', where he takes the original sounds and twists them into bewitching new forms to complete this spectacular example of what atmospheric drum and bass is.
