During James' preparation for the recording Hollowhead with The Vaulted Skies (which takes place on 7th August 2021, along with 4 other new songs), Joanna said she fancied covering the track. At first it was a case of singing over the complete arrangement of the band version with distorted guitars, but it quickly became clear that a more stripped back approach would be more appropriate... This is an experiment. The track was created in GarageBand on iPad and I wanted to see how easy it would be to upload directly from the application.

Days of Longing

Based on observations of some friends who were perfect for each other, but neither would make a move... 

Stylistically, the song is inspired somewhat by Elliott Smith, though in absence of real strings, it takes on an almost 80's Cure-ish vibe.

In absence of any more practical action, writing this song was the first thing I could do to express my complete despair about a spate of so-called honour killngs that had been reported in the news. How can any love, if true, be forbidden? How can any parent want anything but happiness for their children?
