Yin and Yang (n.) - the concept of duality forming a whole. A fundamental premise in Chinese philosophy now transposed to the electronic dance industry through the creation of Proton "Editions". Through encyclopaedic knowledge of the 800+ strong Proton roster of labels Tripp Baronner has envisioned a new concept of the principle of seemingly polar opposites, coming together as interconnected and independent universal forces - life and death, the dark and the light: one complete entity. 

From a passion for underground progressive house at opposite ends of the audio spectrum - the deep, shadowy atmospheres to the blissful, shimmering melodies, "Yin" and "Yang" were born in an effort to represent this phenomenon in musical form. Each release will provide a single remix of an existing Proton roster track for two inextricably linked labels in the form of a light (Yang) and dark (Yin) edition. Released on the same day, a strong contrast in styles will thus serve to complement each other and nourish the whole.

Nearly a year and a half since Southpoint’s first release, label co-founder KXVU returns at long last to the hot seat with his brand-new LP entitled ‘Cub Inna Caribbean’, Southpoint’s first feature-length album. Much has changed since the release of the ‘Shut ‘em Down’ EP back in 2015, and since then KXVU has worked with a variety of big names and tastemakers in and around the grime scene, while also receiving countless prime time radio support, while truly shaping his own sound as a producer.
 
From start to finish, the album presents and showcases KXVU’s unique, gritty take on 140bpm based music, drawing influences from sounds such as “trappy” 808 riddims and Asian bouzouki instrumentation. The album is a journey through styles, themes and KXVU’s personal evolution as a producer and recording engineer which has been bred straight from his own home-built studio, "the cave". The album is also heavy with vocal and production features from inside the Southpoint collective, including Tengu, Danny Jaqq, Razor, Writz, and Reeko West, as well as a cameo appearance from Banzai. On remixes, KXVU was aided by Bushbaby and Drax to tear apart his original conceptions and rework them with the best of their production ability.
