RHYTHMS Radio Show (May.03.2024)

What originally started in a pub between Charlie Tate & Matt ‘DJ Shuff’ Harris in 1994 has come full circle 31 years later! King Kooba return with their third EP of their trilogy of genres, this time focusing on downbeat jazztronics. The midtempo grooves that made standout albums like NuFoundFunk so beloved. Featuring the stand out opener, Doh Zen. an electric piano, breaks and bass rolling groover, complete with string stabs and global atmospherics reminiscent of the classic Om Lounge series. Also included are the meditative breakbeats of Green Flash with electric bass and mellowed out baritone sax. Inner Mist is a mysterious track for the heads, followed by the percussive flute looped Lowereastside and Gumdrop to round everything out, It’s the perfect soundtrack to begin the 30th year of Om Records.

AstroVoyager - Architect (Blackbird Blackbird Remix)

Brooklyn’s Body Language has always embodied something of a sensual mythos. Since their inception in 2008, the band has been known for their restless pop experiments with a future-shocked blend of soul and R&B. The quartet’s debut 2010 LP Social Studies earned the approval of everyone from NPR to The New York Times to The Guardian, who compared the breakout release to early Madonna, the indie disco of Prelude Records and “CSS doing an impression of Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band.”   With their upcoming release Mythos, they continue to showcase their intimate music with lyrics of longing, desire and lost love.  Love and the perils of love have guided their message through the years while the twists and turns of their instrumental pop experiments carve a labyrinth to be navigated carefully.  Oftentimes dark and moody, Mythos pushes forth feelings of desire against ominous backdrops only to quickly veer back into the familiar and comforting.      

Mythos is seven tracks, which carve through remnants of future-shocked R&B, bass and house music.  While continuing to push their pop sensibilities into each track, Body Language clearly spells out their keen ability to bend genres to their will and to make their own.  With new singles 'Addicted' and 'Can't Hang On' coming this Fall featuring remixes by Memoryy, Shiny Objects and more, Mythos pushes this quartet forward even further into uncharted waters.

Mythos will be released on OM Records on November 4th, 2016 as a digital release.  Body Language will be touring in support of this release in November and December.

Disque La Rayé (60's french west indies Boo-Boo-Galoo) is our latest project curated by Digger's Digest and produced by Born Bad Record and will be out the 25th June. This 13 titles compilation gathers a selection of tracks sounding like a rather unorthodox créole interpretation of the nuyorican Booglaoo, stuck between the strong Yéyé influence coming from the french Metropole and the modern latin fusion emerging from Harlem.
