A stone thrown, just to watch it fly. A projectile launched for the sole purpose of drawing a ballistic trajectory in the sky.
The Solens arc is what remains after the subtraction of the goal; a simple parabolic curve defined by gravity, impulse and starting angle. No target to hit, no catharsis to wait for, just the beauty of the flight.

The Arc as the purpose, in the form of four variations, constructed from disintegrated melodic textures and dismantled beats. Each sequences are assembled seamlessly into dense, evolving compositions, while keeping their autonomy, and their role in the global dramaturgy.

Pointillist serial loops morph into abrasive rave anthems, broken club rhythms are refitted into uneven patterns, like deconstructivist sound architectures. Industrial techno stompers dissolve into granular sound waves and filtered space pads, before being overtaken by cinematic drums and rising arpeggios.

Solens Arc is Kangding Ray’s fourth Album for raster-noton.

As the son of British jazz pioneer Trevor Watts, a career in music really was the only choice for Sam Watts, AKA Maxxi Soundsystem. Over the last few years the Brighton based artist has risen up the ranks to become one of the most sought after performers on the international circuit, clocking up an impressive list of club and festival appearances. In tandem with his DJ career, his club-focused productions have been signed to a number of influential and highly regarded labels including Defected, Hypercolour, Moda Black, Maceo Plex’s Ellum and the mighty Nervous. 

On his first single on OM Records, Maxxi joins forces with the enigmatic and mysterious producer Thrilogy; a new Bristol based artist that places an emphasis on darker more mystical elements.  Together the two have created a rich, deep house track that speaks to the heart as well as the root.   Joining them on the journey via their own remixes taking it even deeper are No Regular Play and Bells and Whistles.

King Kooba return with their new Drum & Bass EP, Rapido featuring the lead single, ‘Smoking Room,’ a massive stretched out tune featuring Kooba signature bass lines and jazzy licks creating a heavy groove. What originally started in a pub between Charlie Tate & Matt ‘DJ Shuff’ Harris in 1994 has come full circle 31 years later! King Kooba return with their third EP of their trilogy of genres, this time focusing on downbeat jazztronics. The midtempo grooves that made standout albums like NuFoundFunk so beloved. Featuring the stand out opener, Doh Zen. an electric piano, breaks and bass rolling groover, complete with string stabs and global atmospherics reminiscent of the classic Om Lounge series. Also included are the meditative breakbeats of Green Flash with electric bass and mellowed out baritone sax. Inner Mist is a mysterious track for the heads, followed by the percussive flute looped Lowereastside and Gumdrop to round everything out, It’s the perfect soundtrack to begin the 30th year of Om Records.

What started out as a little label on Haight Street in San Francisco, has grown into a breeding ground for underground talent producing some of the greatest in the electronic, house, downtempo and hip-hop world. One of the legends to call Om home dating back to his early days of Mushroom Jazz is nonother than the maestro himself, Mark Farina. On “The Story,” Mark teams up with collaborator Homero Espinosa to create the groove heavy statement piece “The Story”. Heavy horn stabs and organ slabs ride on the steady breakbeat reminiscent of classic years gone by with a message still focused on the here and now.
