Sophisticated minimalism was always a core feat of ALEX UNDER's portfolio, with the Spanish producer also serving as the founder and label manager for much-acclaimed techno label CMYK Musik. After releases on iconic imprints such as Trapez, Soma or Plus 8, the Madrilenian - one of the most sought-after electronic artists in Spain - now presents OLAS DE QUILA QUINA, his very first outing for Kompakt. Three slick, enticing cuts show him comitted to rolling basslines, rising synths and snappy percussion, all embedded in the futuristic sound design Alex has been honing over the course of his career. Unfolding to the backdrop of brooding metallic drones, the title track only needs a handful of carefully processed sounds to tell a highly evocative story - a focussed, geometrical jam that nonetheless allows for freewheeling outbursts of creativity. The same can be said for the punching, asymmetrical acid of EL REFLEJO DEL LACAR and the full-bodied bass bounce of LOLOG, as both cuts juxtapose sharp-edged shards of electronic texture with chewy, melodic synths. Tension-filled and catchy, it's a masterful update on ALEX UNDER's unique approach to techno, bold and subtle at the same time.

Nach Releases für legendäre Marken wie Trapez, Soma oder Plus 8 präsentiert der Mann aus Madrid - einer der begehrtesten elektronischen Künstler Spaniens - OLAS DE QUILA QUINA, seine allererste Veröffentlichung auf Kompakt. Drei smarte, verlockende Tracks zeigen ihn inmitten rollender Bassläufe, erhabener Synthies und zackiger Percussion, alle im futuristischen Klanggewand eingebettet, welches Alex schon eine ganze Karriere lang verfeinert hat. Eagles and Butterflies has taken storm in electronic wonderland. Venturing deeper down the rabbit hole with each release, his ruthless dance floor cut “Shinto” caused a rightful ruckus after being dropped by Dixon in his BR session. Boasting releases on a platinum array of imprints including Innervisions, Get Physical and Noir, he now focuses on his own label Art Imitating Life.

Inaugurated with Art Imitating Life Vol. 1, track four “Experiment D” is a golden nugget of musical alchemy. Flirting between many facets, “Experiment D” just doesn’t quite fit under any rubric. Darting unhinged electronic, tribal percussion along with sprightly bass work makes this a strong contender of 100% heat.

It won't come as too much of a surprise that our favourite track on XOA's new EP comes in the form of a Byron The Aquarius remix as the young producer has been on fine form recently.

We premiered 'The Love Below' back in June and we knew that the Detroit producer had fire in his locker and this new edit of 'In So' is another house masterclass. Check it below and drift off to the clouds.

Om Records founder Christopher Smith returns under his Shiny Objects moniker with Superstitious Hips, a heavy brooding new single on Smoke N’ Mirrors. Kicking things off is the original version of the title track. There’s a darkness that builds into a down and dirty body-shaking affair with heavy drums. Up next is the Birds Fly South (Maxxi Soundsystem & Holmar from Thugfucker) who takes the track into deeper house territory. Following that is the final cut Twisted Up, a funky booty bouncing house track with tons of old school vibes to round out the single.
