We are delighted to share with you our 2nd track from the heart of the desert.

This story is based on true events. Created & recorded during a night session in the depth of the Mesr Desert with my fellow artist friend Mohammad Azari, we went back to the origin of SPACE CARAVAN a few weeks later to make the video.
Meanwhile it was getting really hot already early in the morning and we to work in two shifts to spare the hottest hours of the day.

Back in Germany we recorded additional trumpets with my favorite Cologne based jazz cat from New York, Prof. Ryan Carniaux. He got the vibe even if thousands of kilometers far away instantly and on the point...

Space Caravan

Sitting for 3 months in the absolute silence of the desert, the "whispers of the soul" have been audible to me like never before. Back in Germany i called our fellow member of The Exile Orchestra, Jazz Prof. Ryan Carniaux and told him how his sound has been on my mind there! 
We arranged spontaniously a recording session for the next day. I created this track in just 5 hours over night. He came, listened just once and eventually just played one take. This is it!

This is a musical conversation of dutch harp-player Danielle Uriel and me.
We are very proud of this project. It is a very loving, smooth and creative collaboration between the two of us. And you can hear this in our music!
This album contains some songs with harp and Omid’s voice, with soulful and beautiful Persian poems, some of Daniëlles creations and some elctronic mixes.
 
Right now we are in the process of completing all the songs, and then we can mix it and send it to the printer.
The CD will be ready before christmas, so you can give it as a gift to friends and family!

Traditional persian rhythms and melodies paired with the modern sound of contemporary club music...
I was honored to use and sample some ney melodies (persian traditional flute) of Master Hassan Kassai for this track in 2010.
This great master died lately at the age of 84.
May he rest in peace!

Gregor Schwellenbach moves between the worlds of pop and classic, between concert hall and club.
He already worked as a composer, arrangeur and multi-instrumentalist with The London Symphony Orchestra, Megaloh, several electronic labels like Kompakt Pop Ambient and regulary with Irmin Schmidt from the legendary CAN.
