It's no snooze-fest though; sublime chime chords, sweet counter melodies and warm bass combine in sumptuous fashion throughout. Danny Serrano with Gonzalez & Gonzalo - Sake Want some no-nonsense techno? You've found it. This rolling tribal-infused groover is a heads down rhythm track, concerned with nothing else but satisfying primal urges. A very useful set builder to keep the energy flowing,Townston & Delgado - Day & NightA deeper cut, driven by a superbly classy bassline, and fleshed out with dusty disco percussion and gently muted chords and pad swathes. It's deep house for sure, but with the requisite energy to make it work on an early dancefloor and not just laidback lounges.Mario Ochoa 2 ChronosYet more dancefloor gold in this shoulder-popping track, whose tight and tidy rhythms are broken up by synth 'n' tribal vocal breakdowns to brilliantly juxtaposing effect. If this doesn't elicit a huge reaction every time it's dropped, we'll eat our proverbial hats.Alexis Cabrera & Matteo Spedicati - Make Me Feel Jazzy, off-kilter organ chords create a groovy yet slightly twisted atmosphere on this peppy little roller, recalling organ classics of the past filtered through the prism of light, seductive tribal-tinged tech house percussion.

Samy Dib and Jonathan Delachaux have accompanied Poupa Honk for several years during concerts or studio sessions. This collaboration had already given rise to productions like "The Handless Spacewalker" or "Pressure Warning", pieces in which guitar and clarinet dialogue with beats and digital bass. 

With "Golden Lowness", Poupa Honk takes again this same formula and lets speak freely its main influences like Rock-steady, Cumbia or Hip-hop, but never let a style take over, a crossbreeding still reinforced by the influences Rock and Jazz by Samy and Jo. 

During the production of the album, a great place was made improvisation and this approach, associated with the sounds of the electric guitar and the bass clarinet, brings an organic and deeply human side to a music in which the sounds digital devices are willing to put forward just as the treatment "Lo-Fi" of certain sounds. 

There is also an interest for the synthetic and the "cheap" in the work of macro-photography that Poupa Honk realizes for the visuals that accompany his music, a work based on the series and the homogeneity. Homogeneity that is found also in the five titles of "Golden Lowness".

Con "bajeza de oro" Poupa Honk repite esta misma fórmula y permite hablar libremente sobre sus principales influencias tan firme como una roca, cumbia o el hip-hop, pero nunca dejar un estilo de asumir el control, una mezcla reforzada por la influencias Rock y Jazz por Samy y Jo. 

Durante la producción del álbum, se hizo un gran lugar improvisación y este acercamiento, asociado con los sonidos de la guitarra eléctrica y el clarinete bajo, aporta un lado orgánico y profundamente humano a una música en la que los sonidos los dispositivos digitales están dispuestos a presentar al igual que el tratamiento "Lo-Fi" de ciertos sonidos. 

También son de interés para el sintético y "barato" en el trabajo de fotografía macro Honk Poupa lo convierte en música de acompañamiento visual, un trabajo basado en la serie y homogeneidad. Homogeneidad que se encuentra también en los cinco títulos de "Golden Lowness".

Over the years of DJing and crate digging, I have built up a vast amount of various styles of music that just won't get played out in my usual sets. I am going to attempt to make a mix every weekend for this series, exploring the depths of my crates and giving great music a chance to be heard and letting some forgotten tracks see the light of day! 
I have started with an hour and a half of vibing downtempo tunes.

With this Courtney Jones, Lore Grutschnig and Ali Tersch (Drummer of the band Dubblestandart and Supermax) are welcoming you to their unique blend of Steel Pan and Kalimba music. The first steelpans where invented in the 1930s in Trinidad, designed from the tradition of rebellion against the colonial powers in Trinidad & Tobago.

More than 3000 years back dates the earliest version of the Kalimba, also known as Mbira/ Thumb Piano. However, those u are about to hear on this production where handcrafted in today’s Austria. Communicating with the mighty sounds of Courtney Jones Steel Pan & the fragile sensitive layers of Lore’s flute, the Kalimba merges the old and new world with its distinctive sound. 

The environment in which these musicians live and work is Vienna, in the middle of Europe, an austere ancient city in transition. A multicultural “market place” set alive by its multi ethnical inhabitants and their wish to respect the roots of their individual culture as they are melting with the colorful life of 21st centuries Europe.

 In respect to Courtney Jones, who passed away during this production, Ali Tersch (aka Ale X)  finalized the production, conscious of the responsibility to keep the vibes authentic and the music well produced, just as Courtney would have loved it.

An album that fuses “authentic world music” but also modern beat, hip hop and dub 
On this, the band’s first album, the focus is firmly on an amalgamation of so called world music,  with the genre’s elementary electronic facets. They grab reggae flavoured by the roots in their inimitable way and build a varied cocktail of roots, soundscapes, hip hop and dub.
