Ricardo Villalobos returns on Raum Musik with his second solo single for our label. This time time both sides are featuring other artists though. The A Side is based on a sample, taken from the track called "Buffalo Demon' which is from the album - Miniatures' by the duo Alog, that was originally released on Rune Grammofon in 2005. On the B side Ricardo is featuring his friend Jorge Gonzalez, the former lead singer, main songwriter and sole composer of the Chilean band Los Prisioneros that is currently the frontman of Los Updates. The result is a very nice EP and we are quite happy with this release.

Bored with both rock and roll and his own name, ex-drummer Steven Ford released his debut 12", a techno single titled Read Me/Silver City, under the pseudonym Bruno Pronsato in 2003. The response to that release, though overwhelmingly positive, was dwarfed by the critical praise heaped on its follow-ups: 2007's Why Can't We Be Like Us, which effectively established Pronsato as one of the most innovative and vital producers in dance music, and 2009's groundbreaking The Make Up The Break Up, which further cemented his credentials as a visionary. NDF combines Pronsato's talents with those of Sergio Giorgini – one half of Benoit & Sergio, whose rose-lensed debut EP, What I've Lost, was released through Pronsato's thesongsays label. On their auspicious first outing, Since We Last Met, NDF offer music almost perfectly summed up in their own words as "dance music twilit by…melancholy."

The A-Side track, which begins nearly fully formed – with handclaps, keys and a sparse, bassy percussive loop – is a roomy, wide-open construction of electronic pop. Sergio's languid vocals echo outward into whispered descriptions of familiar post-romance scenarios: "One day I'll see her on the street/And we'll greet with casualness/And discuss the flow beneath the bridges/Since we last met/And that'll be all..." There are ghostly voices that hang ephemerally in the background, and a rippling percussive build through the song's middle, but not a lot more. Instead of filling the track to its brim, NDF's minimal, but studied, arrangements leave plenty of room for every element to breathe – and listeners to swoon.

Side-B, notably, is a remix of the title track from superstar Ricardo Villalobos. The famed producer elongates the single to nearly three times its original length. Villalobos's rebuilt track starts as a nearly naked beat, with Sergio's vocals layered into a haunting procession of blank-eyed repeated mantras. Villalobos adds here and there – carefully and slowly – a steady, unerring hand keeping things just so. Perfection through precision and subtlety.

Come on, be honest. You also have been waiting for this. For more than seven years now, the 27-year-old Frankfurter Chris Tietjen stands, like hardly any other DJ, with his Cocoon mix compilations for the sound of this label. Apart from Sven Väth, maybe...
So, it was really time for Tietjen to carve his music-aesthetical biases finally into vinyl, because for the value-oriented and highly dedicated DJ, it's a matter of honour to release his tracks in the traditional EP format only. The three tracks on the "341 EP" are not least a deep bow before three of the most important protagonists of the Rhein Main House scene. "Active", which was composed together with Cécille producer Markus Fix celebrates a deepness that is on the one hand accented by LFO bass lines and a jazzy-sketchy lightness, but on the other hand still pushes forward at a max. With Frank Heinrich aka Reboot, Tietjen had already cooperated in 2008 for the Cocoon Ibiza pre-season mix CD "Disco Invaders". With its flute melody lines, their co-production "Just Happens" presents itself even slightly more organic, before Tietjen sits down in front of the TV with none other than Ricardo Villalobos. All jokes aside, "TV Watching" combines the suggestive effect of Villalobos' unmatched sense for broken rhythmic textures with Tietjen's very precisely thumping bass dub, and reminds in his hypnotic impact almost of Villalobos' masterpiece from 1999, "808 The Bassqueen". Then, the two release you to the beach with a wistful guitar – it's summer in the city!
