Submitted for the CRUNCHTIME 02 OST Jam: A small, 16-bit, Cyberpunk inspired album called MEGA NETRUNNER DRIVE! (Made in 48 hours, FL Studio 12)

As well as Cyberpunk, it takes a lot of inspiration from late 90's techno and Sega Mega Drive / Genesis VGM. There's a loose narrative of what it means to be a Netrunner in this neon-90s-Cyberpunk universe, with some high octane and funky tracks to boot!

the map theme. this was one of the 5 songs that made it into the game itself when I started making it. the other two being tracks 1, 2, the continue theme and the shop theme.

for some reason I also made a famitracker version of it that loops for 9 minutes long. idk if I'll ever upload it.

this is from an old project codenamed "ver0." I don't remember why it was called that or anything, but I do know that this was my very first game maker project, and it was ambitious as hell.

I started it in 2011. being my first game, and also being like 13-14 years old, I wanted nothing more than to make a self-insert metroidvania game with cues from SOTN and SCV4.

the character sprite on the album art was supposed to be me, but I was also pretty obsessive about making the game look like an NES game, so I used a 3-color palette.

I had about 20 full songs written for the game separated into two folders; one was the initial draft and one was the revised draft (which consisted entirely of new songs, with one exception.) I started writing music for the game before I even got Game Maker, which is why most of the first draft was written in 2010-2011.

This was very difficult to do. I had to improvise a lot of it; drums especially. This should at least give you an idea of what this theme could have sounded like. No idea if this was supposed to be 10 AM, or some sort of early prologue music.
