during the 90's i spent much of my time and money in panface records. 12" singles with little information or just white labels, often containing only one tune that i was bothered about, but such a killer tune, it would be worth the £6/£8/£10.

up until the end of the 80's most of my records contained the phrase 'pay no more than £...' they would be covered in information justifying the righteous anger within the music.

the first crass album was officially a 12" single containing 17 tracks and 'pay no more than £2' on the cover.

the differences between punk and house music are obvious but superficial. The anarcho principles are less transparent but fundamental. i, like many of those 90's ravers arrived from the punk scene. 

a sliver of my past seems an appropriate way to commence my future.

From the sample-heavy era of Tim Simenon and Pascal Gabriel, here’s an old-school classic.

Tim Simenon’s 1988 Bomb the Bass track "Megablast (Hip Hop on Precinct 13)", was the theme music to the shoot' em up, Xenon 2: Megablast by The Bitmap Brothers.

The Bitmap Brothers game used sections of the original music that were sampled and then re-sequenced by computer game musician David Whittaker.

I ported the games tracker mod file to Native Instruments Maschine and then produced the tribute version you hear here. Called it the Meatball mix after reading Tim Simenon had swapped beats for meatballs:

Sound design piece for Point Blank Music School. Trying to emulate the pluck instrument from Sébastien Tellier's Le long de la rivière tendre, using Ableton's Analog. Includes timestreching and re-pitching for the atmospheric ambient harmony.

Created a Ableton Bass instrument with multi-sampling and zones, using Sampler and recordings from my Ibanez Bass guitar.

Narco is a 2004 French film about Gustave Klopp, a narcoleptic whose life is made difficult by his inability to keep a job because of his narcolepsy. Gus experiences vivid dreams during his narcoleptic episodes, where he becomes a hero in his dreams.
