Tangerine Dream are a German electronic music group founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. 

Tangerine Dream released more than one hundred albums. Their early "Pink Years" albums had a pivotal role in the development of Krautrock. Their "Virgin Years" albums helped define what became known as the Berlin School of electronic music. These and later albums were influential in the development of electronic dance music, and also the genre known as new-age music, though the band themselves disliked the term. From the late 1990s into the 2000s, Tangerine Dream also explored some styles of electronica.

Although the group released numerous studio and live recordings, a substantial number of their fans were introduced to Tangerine Dream by their film soundtracks, which total over sixty and include Sorcerer, Thief, Risky Business, The Keep, Firestarter, Legend, Near Dark, Shy People, and Miracle Mile. They most recently composed the original score for the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

The band's influence can be felt in ambient artists such as The Future Sound of London and Global Communication, as well as rock, pop, and dance artists such as Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, M83, DJ Shadow, Cut Copy, and Kasabian. The band also clearly influenced 1990s and 2000s Trance music, where lush soundscapes and synth pads are used along with repetitive synth sequences, much like in their 1975 releases Rubycon and Ricochet, as well as some of their music from the early 1980s. The group have also been sampled countless times, more recently by Recoil on the album SubHuman, by Sasha on Involver, and on several Houzan Suzuki albums.'

with a norwegian background heavy on classic synthesizers, early digital samplers and sound manglers, cato has spent years connecting wires, sounds and ideas in new and often subversive ways.  early, formative inspirations include artists as diverse as klaus schulze, daf, cabaret voltaire, throbbing gristle, steve hillage, van der graaf generator, peter gabriel, gabriel-era genesis, nico, ash ra tempel, stravinsky and schoenberg.

as cato and circadian delays he has written full scores and music for feature films ("stone" starring robert de niro), produced remixes (t.rex, the who, alpha, robot koch, kira skov) and was recently chosen to reimagine the music of vangelis for "blade runner 2049" (trailer), having had his music, remixes, dark musical sound design and co-productions featured in over 600 movie trailers ("alien covenant", "atomic blonde"), tv-shows ("how to get away with murder"), video games ("need for speed") and films ("wall street: money never sleeps").

as schwarzmodul his first s/t release came out on track number records (november 2016), forged inside an industrial bunker and accompanied by an xlr8r video premiere.  as a collaborator schwarzmodul is significantly featured on robot koch's "tsuki" and "hypermoment" releases (monkeytown records).  recent releases include a remix of "skipping stairs" by robot koch and savannah jo lack as well as the track 'kompleplika', first released by berlin-based, music software & hardware power house native instruments as part of their artist collection of "komplete sketches".
