What changed?

I stopped idolizing human beings
Stopped believing that miracles weren't meant for me
Stopped acting like I was an extra in someones scene
Stopped minimizing myself to save somebody's self esteem

Stopped waiting to catch someone's wave
Started digging my own stream

Stopped analyzing my flaws
Stopped living by their laws
Stopped wrapping wounds with gauze
Learned to let them-- breathe

Stopped hoping things would change
Started forcing things to change
Accepted things I couldn't change
Tied my camel 
& believed

This poem is inspired by my favorite poet, who reminded me that death is not the end. It is just the beginning. She and I, although of different faiths, share the same belief that there is power in kindness; in truth, in courage. I hope to live my life in a way that brings meaning to many, including myself.

Company - Philosophy

I met Anthony outside of Elliot Bay Books. He was offering poems in exchange for money to help feed his family and keep them off the street. His wife & baby boy were staying at a motel & Anthony made ends meet by sharing his work with passerby's on the street. I was intrigued and asked him to share his most heart felt piece. This piece is called  When You Look at Me.
