Born and raised in St Louis, Missouri, Will DeKeizer is the focus of our next release, offering up three delicious slices of progressive beauty in Metamorphosis, Moon Escape and Floating Frozen In Time. To round off this exceptional release we have enlisted Macedonia’s progressive wizard, Kandar, and Argentina’s Ivan Aliaga to give us their unique takes on Metamorphosis and Moon Escape respectively.  

Will DeKeizer comes armed with over fifteen years of classical training in piano and saxophone, and also first started to dabble in the electronic production world some fifteen years ago. Citing early musical influences such as Pink Floyd, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, and more recent electronic influences such as Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren et al, it is easy to imagine the musical delights that Will is capable of creating, and after first coming to our attention last year via his amazing track, Karma, which featured on our compilation, Electrique Boutique - compiled and mixed by Steve Marx, it was only a matter of time before Will released his own EP with us. 

The EP begins powerfully with the title track Metamorphosis; an infectious slab of progressive breaks driven by an enveloping, rolling and evolving bassline, while ethereal atmospheric pads skim effortlessly over the top of a tight broken beat. Moon Escape follows in a more traditional 4/4 progressive format, featuring an addictive growling bass, shimmering key lines, playful subs, vocal stabs and a hauntingly beautiful piano melody, which all combine perfectly to create a timeless piece of dance floor ready progressive heaven. The third original, Floating Frozen In Time is a real journey piece. With a rumbling bassline driving the track forward from the off, and strong reverberated pads and shimmering percussion setting the scene for an epic expedition into the unknown. Next up, Kandar takes on the title track and puts a solid 4/4 spin on it. Definitely one for peak time excursions with a spine-tingling breakdown worthy of a festival stage. Last, but not in any way least, Ivan Aliaga gives us his take on Moon Escape, giving it a deeper more heads down feel while retaining and building on the euphoria created by Will’s stunning piano work. The track chugs and glides simultaneously with hypnotising ease, proving once again why Aliaga is one to watch.

A new artist making his Meanwhile Horizons debut, Covsky opens his account for the GMJ and Matter led imprint, with the 3-track "Space Walk".

Hailing from the New South Wales capital, Sam Cooke has acquired an impressive reputation in a short space of time with his Covsky production moniker. Marking his first release with an appearance on 3rd Avenue's "Three of a Kind #05" in July 2020, productions signed to Forward Music, Future Avenue and Massive Harmony Records followed before "Whole 9" featured on Steve Marx and Tripswitch's onedotsixtwo in December 2021.

Now the Australian boasts another first with three new original tracks on Meanwhile Horizons. The "Space Walk" title track is a beautifully imagined piece that rolls effortlessly along with its organic sounding percussive groove, before glassy synth motifs drift across the mid-range. Accompanied by ethereal vocal phrases, a series of spoken astronaut samples add to the overall sonic ambience and cadence. Combining with filtered arpeggio at the breakdown and into the third movement the track builds to a satisfying and impressive finale.

The relaxed rhythmic backdrop continues into "Greener Pastures" as a deep bass groove adds weight and subtle dancefloor dynamism. Evolving easily, a chorus of complementary synth phrases add a gloriously emotive chord progression. Playing off each other, their immaculate placement creates a sublime arrangement that reaches out over the sonic horizon with delicately wavering oscillator pitch to add further intrigue. The result is a beautifully imagined array of melodic patterns.

The final piece finds a heavy beat and ticking hi-hat pattern take up the mantle of "Holding On". A delicate wood block percussion plays out across the top line as a meticulously programmed bassline creates a head-shaking groove. A trademark collection of analogue synth layers makes their presence felt before an inspiring string sequence weaves a magical path at the breakdown and into the second half. White-noise risers and searing free-form lead then add to the aural collage with striking effect.

A confident and assured debut, Covsky ventures out into the deep with an inspiring "Space Walk".

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint opens the new year by welcoming Pedro Capelossi back to the label for a new EP. With a career that spans just over half a decade, Pedro Capelossi has quickly emerged from Spain's avant-garde electronic music landscape. The Brazilian born, Barcelona based artist has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of atmosphere and rhythm, drawing the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula. Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas has been a primary vehicle for Pedro's far-reaching work, with additional projects via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, The Purr and TOR highlighting his resume. Sound Avenue has also been a comfortable home for Pedro, with the Madloch and Subnode collaborations 'Turmeric Latte' and 'Vanilla Noise' marking his label debut in 2020, a project which spawned four originals and two remixes across the next two calendar years. Now, as 2023 begins to take shape, Pedro makes a welcome return to Sound Avenue with a four-track showcase entitled 'Salted Caramel'.
