Just about 10 years ago I composed a song called "Loner" for a Doom mod "Sapphire Scar" that was never released. The song got some attention and is definately one of my best compositions ever. Now I wanted to celebrate the 10 year journey with a remake. The original was made with Reason 2.5 and so this new edition is made entirely with Reason 8.2. Enjoy this free download! :)

One Pale Ghost - Faded Image (preview)

It was 2005 when I was asked to make a theme song for a Doom mod called "Sapphire Scar". The song became "Loner" which is still one of my best compositions ever.

Now 14 years later I wanted to make a follow-up song with a sort of cinematic feel to it. Here is "Loner Returns" as a free download. Hope you enjoy the song :)

Here I wanted to try and make something completely different to what I usually do. This quite brilliantly titled "Da-Daa-Dah" is an easy listening chillout track with hooks that keep on playing in your head :)

Tawan - Da-Daa-Dah

The story begins in 1994 when I first got my hands on a tracker program for my trusty old Atari ST computer. As expected I didn't finish anything you could actually listen to. To be honest I didn't finish nothing. And everything I came up with sounded like crap. But anyways my musical career had started. As I recall, between 1994 and 1997 I had finished one track, which of course still sounded like crap. But then I got myself a PC. And of course I got a new tracker called FastTracker 2. Oh what an amazing tool that was. 16bit samples! Wow! Now the professional sound was within my grasp (not really, no). I started to play around with that tracker, made about 1-3 songs a day. Still the songs were crap, but I did learn something about music.

During those tracker-years I managed to finish about 200 tracks. I still have most of them on cds somewhere and perhaps even you could find some of them under the aliases "tawan" and "dj flava". Still after a few years of gaining some recognition from the internet communities my hunger grew, and I wanted to have an official release via some record label. So I started to tune up my skills to perfection (or so I thought at that time). At some point I switched from FT2 to Madtracker 2 believing I could make more professional sounding tracks with it, but actually I was wrong. It wasn't until I came across Propellerheads Reason that I truly found the means to a professional sound.

Now the next few years from about 2001 to 2003 I didn't release nothing to the public. I just tried to learn how to use Reason, testing sounds and stuff. Finally I made my first tracks with it and got signed. Track called "Inside", a 9 minute anthem, under the alias "Una Thez" was signed to appear on a compilation. Of course I thought things would be easy from here on. I thought wrong.

Not a single record company would even send an answer to my demos. I couldn't think of a reason why they wouldn't. Well as I'm writing this I now know why: My tracks still sounded like crap. With the help of three mates from tracker years, Mark Versluis, Gaj Capuder and Jan Kalafut, I managed to somewhat learn the fine art of EQ'ing and mastering. That means more practising but finally in the summer of 2006, I got my first single release through an Australian record label "Trancetribe Recordings". Since I finally got my foot between the door I have managed to get almost all my tracks signed to various labels, including Neuroscience Recordings, Joof Recordings and have been asked to do remixes to Moonrising Recordings and Amon Vision.

Up to date my releases have been supported and played by: Paul Oakenfold, Ronski Speed, Suzy Solar, Manuel Le Saux, Mike Nichol, Jamaster A, Mazza & Martinelli, Tempo Giusto, Che Armstrong, Jon O'Bir, Ville Lope and many more!
