With the pandemic in full swing in April of 2020, all the unknowns were the source of inspiration for the song. The band wanted to write about the things going on during this pandemic. Whether living through or passing on, it had a major impact on everyone in some way. "The Suffering” focuses on the darker side of things but also tries to offer a hopeful positive outlook as well.
