Onestar Records opens the Spring season by welcoming Salazar back to the label for a new EP. Upon making his Onestar debut with a remix in 2018, the Medellin resident delivered his first EP for the label in 2019 entitled 'Tabby'. Championed by Nick Warren, it set the course for Salazar's place amongst progressive music's top newcomers. Finding a comfortable home on Onestar saw the year yield a second remix, while 2020 featured the release of 'Artemisa'. Now becoming increasingly more prolific, the Colombian has already notched releases for 3rd Avenue, Another Life Music and Future Avenue to begin the new year. Looking to continue that momentum, Salazar now returns to Onestar with the much-anticipated double A-side 'Luca / Manigua'.

With consistent support from some of progressive music's top tastemaker's, Salazar unveils two of his finest creations to date beginning with 'Luca'. Tastefully melodic; it's warm beats, chugged low end and cross-cultural melodies place it somewhere between organic and progressive house. Powerful chord changes flow through the groove as timely effects and emerging atmospheres provide a bridge into the main break. Broken rhythms keep the groove locked across the centrepiece, allowing the melodies to breathe and work their magic, before a brisk build ushers in an emotive finale.

The tempo and drive shift up a touch with the companion piece 'Manigua'. From darker beginnings comes a muscular groove and a strong percussive cadence. Spiralling arps steal the air as momentum builds, eventually signalling a chain of effects and mountainous chord changes which initiate the break. Epic and electric, the centrepiece draws you in further, as crunchy sonics and shimmering arps unite for moments of tension and exhilaration as the beats drop for a powerful finish. It rounds out a fresh EP from Salazar, who makes a welcome return to Onestar, continuing his fruitful partnership with the label as 2021 enters it's second quarter. Highly recommended.

Onestar Records opens the summer season by welcoming Zoeken to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Colombia, Daniel Gomez Velasco aka Zoeken first emerged in 2017 with a release on Russia's Round Triangle. Daniel's progressive sound was quickly recognized going forward, as he went on to land releases with Clubsonica Records, Deepersense Music, Natura Viva and Stellar Fountain's Black division. Now following two EP's for Smart Phenomena to begin 2021, the Bogota resident steps up to Onestar with the 'Aleph' EP, alongside a remix from Daniel Jula.

The release begins with the heady vibes of the title selection. Dark and rugged from the outset, it quickly captures your imagination with its trippy, atmospheric quality. Moving through layers of detailed percussion and catchy arps, the framework eventually strips down into an expansive break. Spanning nearly two minutes in length, the centerpiece moves through atmospheric phrasing and rising modulation for moments that are both tense and emotive, before a flurry of drums and a tasteful crescendo cue a groovy drop and charged finale.

The second selection 'Wonders' follows with a similar design profile but with a deeper, hypnotic sensibility overall. Remarkably groovy, it's chunky, well contoured bass commands attention, moving through rolling undulation and rhythmic pulses, while driving percussion and luminous electronics add further spice to the groove. Ethereal overlays initiate the main break, eventually melting down to a reservoir of quirky electronics and fuzzy arps, perfectly setting the stage for a thumping final movement.

The third and final original 'Orbita' continues the EP's journey into deeper progressive sounds. Marrying nostalgic sensibilities, Zoeken layers rolling rhythmic structures with percussive waves and charming effects. It's a sleek and highly engaging storyboard, one which resonates on a deeper level with emotive chord changes and striking design qualities. It's the subtleties which command your attention and perfectly set the stage for a poignant break and stomping finale.

The release concludes with Daniel Jula also making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Aleph'. Also hailing from Bogota, Colombia, Daniel's early beginnings date back to 2017 when he emerged as a tech house and techno producer via releases with Academy Records and Deux Minds Records. Having collaborated with Zoeken on a single for Bevel Rec in 2020, Daniel now makes his much anticipated Onestar debut with a powerful rendition of 'Aleph'. Leaning more towards the techno inspired side of progressive house, the Bogota resident focuses on a darker, more edgy narrative, resulting in a great complement to the original. Commanding yet fluid, it's fiery percussion, muscular groove and sweeping effects make for an intense first act. A cosmic arp emerges as the main break approaches, effortlessly shifting energy into the cavernous centrepiece, before waves of effects and intense modulation sparks a massive drop and huge final act. A powerful remix from Daniel which caps off an impressive Onestar debut for both himself and Zoeken, two rising talents who you are bound to hear more about as 2021 progresses.

The latest release from Onestar Records welcomes Ivan Martinez back to the label for his first EP. Based in Queretaro, the Mexican artist began his career on the Colombian imprint in 2019 with a remix of ‘It Was Ravel’ by label boss Jhonny LP and fellow countryman PINO. Ivan’s groovy progressive minded take on the track set the course future offerings via Beat Block Records, BQ Recordings, Estribo Records and Mystic Carousel. Now presenting his first project of 2021, Ivan makes his much-anticipated return to Onestar with ‘Puerta Del Cielo’.

While Ivan’s early productions focused on a pure progressive sound, a two-year evolution has led him to the organic qualities of house. Title selection ‘Puerta Del Cielo’ follows this progression with deep grooves marrying exotic drums and reflective refrains. Placid pads and stirring tones rise across the first act, bringing with them heartfelt moments which carry into the main break. Spanning nearly two minutes in length, the centrepiece acts as an emotional reservoir, allowing the slo-mo lead to breathe against a windswept backdrop, before eventually segueing into a jubilant finale.

The companion piece ‘Puesta Del Sol’ follows suit with an array of neatly manicured drums and carnival-esque motifs. Dreamy yet powerful, choir-like pads add a ghostly canopy leading into the main break, where a more distinct musical theme rises. Whimsical tones delight across the interlude, dancing delicately and conjuring up impassioned moments as the groove drops for a stirring conclusion. It caps off a gorgeous EP from Ivan, making for a welcome return to Onestar and adding to Mexico’s list of up and coming electronic music talents. Highly recommended.

This track comes from the beginnings of Suntech & Jhonny Lp production career. they were searching for new sounds, different from progress, techno or house, and they found "Circles". It's full of sound colors, melodies and percussions, it's a track classified as "Electronic", but above all, it is perhaps the essence of these artists who were influenced by different musical genres, starting from Rock, Progressive, techno, Psy Trance, etc. 'Circles' is one of those strange Tracks that arise in that sound search and at the same time it's great to listen.
Participating in this release and as a complement to that sound search, Meanda manages to find a path within the context of Progressive Trance, making a nice remix for this Track and being this, the main character of this release.

Suntech & Jhonny LP return to Onestar Records with a brand new single entitled ‘Undersky’. The Colombian duo have been frequent studio partners since first working together in 2014, having since went on to nurture the Onestar imprint where the majority of their music has been released. As 2018 winds to a close this creative partnership continues to flourish, landing them back on Onestar with a new single alongside remixes from Jonnas B and Fernando Olaya.

The original mix leads the release off and finds Suntech and Jhonny sticking to their pure progressive house roots. Beginning with a warm, punchy kick and galloping groove, the Colombian pair slowly works in spacey motifs and astral effects. Shifting energy after a short break finds rolling rhythmic elements and a serene yet euphoric melody fading to prominence. Stripping down into its second act, the narrative shift as smooth chord changes and tasteful modulation bring further depth and emotion, perfectly setting up an exhilarating drop that’s going to leave lasting memories on your dance floor. Already in the hands of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, the legendary duo have been showcasing the track in their sets for some time, most notably at the recent ADE boat party. Definitely one you’re going to be hearing a lot in the coming months.

The first interpretation of ‘Undersky’ is provided by Jonnas B who makes his label debut following outstanding releases on Clubsonica Records, Stellar Fountain and Yin:Yang. His Onestar Records debut is perhaps long overdue but well worth the wait as he turns in a stunning rendition of ‘Undersky’. Opting for a slightly deeper approach, Jonnas maintains the integrity of the original elements throughout. The main break highlights the piece, stretching over two minutes in length, while putting a trancier feel on the lead theme before a rush of white noise sparks a smooth finale.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Undersky’ is provided by Fernando Olaya who makes his label debut here. Long considered one of Colombia’s most talented progressive house artists Fernando has showcased his music on Cid Inc’s Replug Records, Manual Music, Movement Recordings and Traum. Now fresh off an EP for Lonya’s Asymmetric Recordings, he delivers a powerful interpretation of ‘Undersky’ to close the release. Atop its rippling groove comes vibrant percussion, tension filled atmospheres and a bright tonal theme. Wonderfully spacey, the main melodic components get gently teased across the first act before a heavenly break elevates the mood with dreamy soundscapes, effortlessly transitioning the piece into a drummy build and warm finale. It caps off what is another exceptional release from Onestar who are quickly establishing themselves as one of electronic music’s freshest progressive house imprints. Highly Recommended.

The latest release from Onestar Records finds label owners Suntech and Jhonny LP back in the spotlight with their new single 'Psychotic Runner'. The Colombian duo have been responsible for some of our favourite tracks over the last year, most notably 'Undersky' from November of 2018. Progressive music taste makers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren are also steadfast supporters, featuring many of duo's tracks in their live and radio sets. Now as the summer season approaches we find this enigmatic duo back with a new single alongside remixes from Sergei Spatz.

There's always a great energy about everything Suntech and Jhonny create with 'Psychotic Runner' being no different. It's smooth, yet buoyant vibe is not only super groovy but incredibly inviting. The methodical build is executed with extreme precision as wavy arps gently elevate mood as the first act progresses, before ultimately building to a sonic sizzle during the main break. It's a unique contrast of emotion and tension, with an underlying rush of drums creating the perfect energy bridge into an exhilarating finale.

Providing the lone interpretations of 'Psychotic Runner' is Sergei Spatz who returns to the label for his third appearance. It's been a quiet start to 2019 for the Russian artist after rounding out 2018 with a contribution to the label's 'Evoke' collection. Now presenting his first productions of 2019, Sergei provides two stunning renditions of 'Psychotic Runner'. The 'Club' mix makes great use of the main themes in a slightly more esoteric fashion. It's unique, quirky and most of all quite groovy with a mild emotional leaning as the main break approaches. The vocal pads take centre-stage here, drifting amidst a wave of sonic artefacts and tepid atmospheres, before elegantly peaking as the beats drop. Sergei's main mix rounds out the release lowering the temp a touch for a deeper more brooding vibe. Trippy and groovy in equal measure it's veritable smorgasbord of astral effects and spaced out atmospheres. Although this collage of psychedelic audio is incredibly captivating it's chugging groove keeps the focus on the dance floor quite nicely. Add to that a more emotive break where the main arp stands out and you've got a very inspired production from Sergei. Many times two remixes from one artist turn out too similar but these are remarkable different and ideal for different times and occasions so they do make for a very well rounded release. Highly recommended.

Onestar Records preludes the summer season with a new collaboration from Jhonny LP and Francisco Panesso. The former is well known as the Onestar boss and Hernan Cattaneo favourite while Francisco is in fact presenting his first ever production. Jhonny seems to excel in a collaborative environment and teaming up with Francisco for the first time the duo unveil 'Freak It' alongside remixes from Armandhe and SALAZAR.

Like all of Jhonny's past joint productions there seems to be a great cohesive fusion here. Beginning with driving beats and stellar design, you get a sense this is going to be an epic ride. The character is rich and warm from the outset, as a muscular groove and fiery percussion set the piece in motion. Trippy effects and electric lines quickly adorn the framework, bringing moments of timely euphoria, before eventually melting down to a haunting theme in the main break. Although brief, it resets the mood into one of emotion and mystic, before a dramatic build perfectly ushers in a buzzing finale. A peak time monster from Jhonny and Francisco.

The first interpretation of 'Freak It' is provided by Armandhe who makes his label debut here. The Colombian producer has grown into one of his country's most creative progressive house artists. His work for Clubsonica Records has been outstanding and it's this expansive, storytelling style which is continuing to win him new fans. That momentum continues here with an amazing rendition of 'Freak It'. Smooth, rhythmic and rich in atmosphere it doesn't take long to get locked into this one. The layers of texture and effects are simply amazing, delivering moments of emotion and depth leading into the break. This is where Armandhe really shines, often crafting two minute plus interludes to get lost in and this one is no exception. Waves of noise, clustered percussion and charming chord changes make for a gorgeous symphony of sound, perfectly setting the stage for yet another memorable finale from the Medellín resident.

The release concludes with label artist Salazar returning following his well received 'Tabby' EP. Championed by Nick Warren for months, it put the Colombian artist in the progressive music spotlight, eventually leading to an appearance on Clubsonica's 'MMW 2019 Sampler'. Now returning to Onestar, Salazar takes a cue from the epic original and delivers an emotive rendition of 'Freak It' to close the release out. It's crunchy rhythmic flow and hearty low end sound wonderful, bursting with ultra-sonic character while a mildly cross cultural theme adds nicely to an already engaging storyboard. The chord changes coming out of the break shift the energy into overdrive while wispy effects and a fragmented take on the main theme continue to deliver spine tingling moments. A superb remix from Salazar who continues to be one Colombia's freshest progressive house talents. It rounds out another exceptional release for Onestar who head into the summer season on a major roll. Highly recommended.

The latest release from Onestar Records welcomes Facundo Sosa back to the label for his debut EP. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist first appeared on the Colombian imprint in March of this year with a contribution to the label’s ‘Medellin Music Week’ Sampler. His progressive minded sound has also found a home on Deepwibe Underground and Soundteller Records. Now returning to Onestar for his first artist EP, Facundo presents the two track offering ‘Silky’.

The pure progressive sounds of the title cut ‘Silky’ lead the release off and show just how apt the Argentinean artist is at creating groovy rhythmic concepts. It’s rolling cadence builds effortlessly across the first act, quickly becoming infectious as buzzing arps and percussive splashes carry into the second movement. Void of any major break, melodic fragments add a cosmic element to the narrative, while timely drops and transitions lead to an exhilarating apex.

The companion piece ‘Moonlight’ is equally impressive, coming in with a similar sonic ethos and very much the progressive sound of now. Vibrant hooks and rolling rhythms converge against an effervescent backdrop, before a wave of choral overlays leads to a dreamy break that’s sure to capture the heart of your dance floor. Smooth and emotive it rounds out what would have to be considered the best release of Facundo’s career thus far. Definitely an artist to watch going forward and another great release from Onestar Records. Highly recommended.

Onestar Records begins the summer season by welcoming NuFects back to the label for a new EP. The Colombian duo have become an integral part of the label since making their debut in November of 2017. The Medellín residents have contributed two originals and two remixes over a two-year span. Also laying claim to releases on 3rd Avenue, Clubsonica Records, ICONYC and Soundteller Records, NuFects now make a welcome return to Onestar with 'Elysium'.

Spread across three tracks it is the melodic sounds of the title selection 'Elysium' which sets the tone for the EP. Backed by a framework of tight beats, organic drums and charged rhythms comes fragmented melodies and hopeful atmospheres. Emotive motifs coupled with serene overlays and wispy effects make for a storyboard which is both timeless and soulful. It's a production which comes from the heart, one to hold for special occasions and no doubt a highly memorable selection for your dance floor.

The journey continues with the percussive vibes of 'Nitro'. Immediately captivating, it's hypnotic tones and rolling drums play off a sultry low end, making for an irresistible, hip swinging groove. Undeniably late night, its meditative appeal grows subtly, before the main break shifts the narrative into emotive territory. Tranquil arps rise amidst a backdrop of wistful atmospheres and bassy rumblings, before effortlessly transitioning into a percussive finale.

The release concludes in fine fashion with the reflective sounds of 'Mezquita Tears'. Beginning with organic beats and gaseous atmospheres, a narrative of vocal samples and billowing bass swells first grabs your attention. Heartfelt melodies play off the harmonious low end, while percussive flurries drive momentum into the break. The vocal storyboard continues to grow across the centrepiece, intertwining with luminous tones and growling synths, as a timely crescendo cues a heartfelt conclusion. Groovy and emotive in equal measure it rounds out what is an impassioned collection of music from NuFects, a duo who make a most memorable return to Onestar.
