With a longing Rhodes piano and minor bass chords, 'Stand By Me' is a captivating slice of afro-prog that demands your full attention. A melodic line glides playfully across the rhythmic percussion — a sure sign of a musician fully lost in the groove. When that vintage sample, rich with introspective charm, enters during the breakdown, softly urging us to ‘Stand by me’, it's too late — we’re already up and dancing.

Daniel W. Best first heard Louis Baker, a New Zealand-based soul singer, perform "Keep On" as the opening act for Fat Freddy's Drop at the Tempodrom in Berlin in 2024. He knew he wanted to create a remix package of the song. His label partner, Andre Lodemann, was also impressed when he heard the track, so he did a remix himself. DJ Philippa and Hollis P. Monroe also delivered amazing remixes. There is something for everyone here. Louis Baker is one of New Zealand’s most compelling voices in modern soul. Select Cuts 350: Ali Schwarz

Here is a special mix I recorded for a contest held by "Ibiza Club News" to get a chance to play a DJ set in Ibiza, at the infamous Café Mambo. From balearic mid-tempo and disco-tinged tracks to afro-ish and deeper sounds for pacing down the mix by the end, there's something for any taste but with my own touch ! I kept in mind this could be played before the sun sets and the night comes...

And what Lannakise sang into the mic for LOPEZHOUSE is definitely a big hook with barbs that sticks in your head. A pristine pop house masterpiece from the La Mancha native. The remix by Scottish techno legend Funk D’Void brings a deeper perspective to the mix which recalls Kompakt’s golden era sound of the 00’s and unfolds its full beauty in the early hours of the morning.
