The 4th installment of our In:Focus Series delves deep into a record label that we feel ticks all the boxes when it comes to the sounds and ideas we love. 
We present to you, spclnch.

"Spacelunch" (short. spclnch) is a Dutch electronic music label with an emphasis on the dub sound founded in Minsk in 2019 by Thomas Carmody. The key ethical principles are an individual approach and a careful selection which allows you to get the best possible from the communication with artists.

The concept of releases is dedicated to a fantastic multimedia universe. The space adventures of Spacelunch and Cat unfold in episodes of an interactive musical comic. Each of them has an original script, and they are connected by a consistent storyline.

When putting together this mix, what was very apparent that in a relatively short period of time since 2019, there has been easily enough music for us to put out a second volume, and it would be equally as high calibre and the mix we bring you here. Such is the nature of spclnch's catalogue. For this mix though, we aimed to represent as many artists on their roster, and to showcase the amazing range that exists within the label, from Ambient, Minimal, Detroit and straight up Dub Techno....spclnch has you covered!

Sephirot’s debut on this Greyscale, Fargazing, is a stunning exploration of sound that gracefully balances synthetic textures with organic atmospheres. Across ten tracks, the UK-based artist produces a creative sound design, crafting an album rich in depth, spaciousness and emotional resonance.
The journey begins with 'Chúl', where a broken beat emerges from a dense static interference, gradually unveiling luminous chords and a clever rhythmic interplay. This introduction to the album immediately shows how it thrives on subtle evolution and intricate layering. 'Deep [SEM]', a dub techno gem, has a melodic beauty and progression to it. Its harmonious interplay of evolving melodies creates a lush, layered soundscape that feels like a serene paradise. 'FP/B6' leans into a techier groove with a tight beat and organic landscape, giving the track a natural vibrancy. 'Midnight, Our' is a standout, with its shimmering melodies and subliminal bassline revealing their full intent in the latter half. The track’s final moments become a breathtaking crescendo, leaving you wanting more. 'Holding Patter(n)' serves as a contemplative intermission, blending orchestral tones with dense delays before transitioning into a whimsical conclusion. It’s a perfectly placed pause, preparing the listener for the second half of the album. Tracks like 'Midsummer' and 'Ochred' embrace the genre’s dub roots, combining broken beats with airy, uplifting production. The latter, in particular, radiates positivity and hope with breathtaking chord stabs and a expansive energy. 'Ellipsoidal' deepens the immersion, constructing scenic depth and an enveloping sense of distance. The album closes on a dreamlike note with 'Shon', blending angelic tones and IDM-inspired rhythms. Its wistful conclusion feels like the end of an extraordinary journey.
Fargazing is a brilliant debut for Sephirot. Throughout this album, the artist consistently shows their ability to create emotionally moving dub techno. It’s a deeply rewarding listen that invites repeated exploration. The label’s dedication to releasing exceptional music from global talents continues to be a trademark for themselves.

The 142nd entry in the Mood Series from Greyscale, Patterns In Randomness is a deep and intricate collaboration between Monopsia and Moodeep, featuring three original tracks and three exciting remixes that continue the label’s strong tradition of finely crafted dub techno. True to the series’ ethos, this release dives into spatial detail, atmospheric richness and rhythmic precision with a refreshing sense of balance.

'Patterns 01' opens the EP with a serene wash of heady textures. Light and airy, it creates a floating sensation, carried by delicate reverb trails and a tranquil mood that invites introspection. 'Patterns 02' is sharper, marked by swirling metallic chords and long delays that stretch across a tight rhythmic grid. It’s spacious yet assertive, with a crisp beat that punches through the haze. 'Patterns 03' is perhaps the most classic inspired with its layered chord work oscillates between aquatic and steady. Overall, a hypnotic and addictive dub techno experience. The remixers each leave their own signature on the originals. Alexander Bogdanov returns to the label with a beautifully restrained remix of 'Patterns 01', enhancing the serene ambiance with lush chords and a clean, entrancing mix. Schulz Audio’s take on 'Patterns 02' is the boldest of the set, delivering aggressive, attention-grabbing chord stabs and a hovering, ominous mood. George Kostopoulos’s remix of 'Patterns 03' is a deconstructed take that feels sparse but focused, using broken beats and a unique ambient melody to highlight elements buried in the original.

Patterns In Randomness is another gem in the Mood Series catalog that is both meditative and engaging. It delivers the kind of detailed sonic storytelling that dub techno fans will return to repeatedly, with both the originals and the remixes giving something uniquely rewarding.
