"Imagine Peaceful Moments" is a home production-based concept album made as an act of the "stay home" period in spring 2020. For the CD release on 7 July 2021, all tracks were remixed and remastered by the rhapsodie musique.

The music featured on this album are fragments of images that may exist somewhere or may be imaginary. The sound of the ryuteki, the gaku-biwa, and the koto can sometimes be more instrumental, other times be more ambient, and always in harmony with any everyday situation.
All pieces will invite listeners to imagine a different time, someone precious far away, even if they can't leave their rooms inside the "window frame."

The accompanying CD booklet features window-frame artworks and is available in both English and Japanese. In addition, as a bonus for purchasing the CD at the official shop, you will receive the leaflet "Postscript to the Time to Imagine," about the production of our album. 
The leaflet includes an essay contributed by each member about the "Stay Home" production.

誰かの砕け散った朝が、もしかしたら別の誰かの朝を照らすかもしれない。
それは隣の大切な誰かかもしれないし、次の季節の私自身かもしれない。

この曲は３つのモチーフから成り立っています。
１つめは強く呼びかけるようなモチーフ、２つめは遠くから応えるようなモチーフ、そして３つめは共通の想いを紡ぐような歌のモチーフ。
２つの声が連なって、１つの歌となります。

今叶えられなかった願いが、次の季節を照らすことを願って。

Someone's broken morning sunshine may illuminate another's morning.
It could be someone important to you or yourself for the next season.

This work consists of three motifs.
The first is a motif that calls out to someone, the second is a motif that responds from a distance, and the third is a song motif that weaves shared feelings.
Two continuous voices become one song.

I hope that the wishes that cannot be fulfilled now will illuminate the following season.

Summer pours the voice of cicadas in the daytime, and brings an evening rain. Summer has been changing, which makes me melancholy. The summer surely lives everywhere. I pray in my garden to see the peaceful summer anytime and forever. (it is believed in Japan that eight million deities reside in all things in the nature.) 
A piece for soprano, sho, piano, and environmental sounds. 

蝉時雨さやさや、夕雨緑に降る。夏はきっと近くに、どこにでも会える。これからもまた、安らかに逢えますように。

夏の庭に逢いに行く ／ Calling for the Summer Garden (Excerpt) by Mio Adachi

Gradually unfolding before the listener as if walking down small stone paths, the aural spaces in “Tales of Hanging Gardens” paint a picture of a system of hanging gardens constructed in a large open environment. The work avoids any semblance of traditional musical forms, opting instead to explore the sensation of walking non-linearly through 4 different garden spaces. 
Symbolizing the path upon which the listener walks, the piano ostinato binds itself to a set rhythm and guides the listener through the gardens. Spatiality within the work is expressed through the sonic landscapes that unfold upon entering each ‘garden’, or section, where musical phrases that are passed around between percussion instruments, sho, and the biwa characterize each individual area. 

小路でつながれたいくつかの空中庭園を歩いていくように、『空中庭園綺譚』の空間が次々と広がってゆく。起承転結などのような一般的な楽曲構成に従わず、本作は直線的な展開をあえて避け、4つの空間を設置して一カ所ずつ通り過ぎるような感覚を与えようとする。一定のリズムに縛られたピアノが小路を象徴し、くねくねと聴者を導きつづける。次に入った「庭園」（セクション）に広がる音風景と浮遊する音楽のフレーズがそれぞれの空間の特徴を音楽的に指定し、音楽における空間性を表現しようと試みる。

空中庭園綺譚 ／ Tales of Hanging Gardens (Excerpt) by Marty Hicks

”drops of moon” is another name for dew in Japanese. 
The piece envisions a delicate landscape: the moment drops of water trickle onto leaves in the middle of a quiet night; momentary shapes created by nature, and mysterious natural phenomenon. 
The sound of unique percussion instruments (such as the ‘suiron’, ’hamon’, ’to-no-otohako’, ‘kugi-naruko’, etc.) together with the koto scatter amongst the harmony of the sho and ryuteki, that seem to repress streams of light. The piece aims to paint a drifting landscape. 

「月の雫」は「露」の異称。静かな夜に、水の粒が葉っぱを伝って滴り煌めくようなささやかな様子など、ほんのひと時の自然のかたち、それから、よくわからない不思議なものたちをイメージしています。 
笙や龍笛の光のすじのような響きの中に、水留音・波紋音・陶の音箱・釘鳴子・・など個性的な打楽器や、和琴の音の粒が散りばめられています。漂う風景のような音楽を目指しました。

月の雫 ／ drops of moon (Excerpt) by Natsumi Nogawa

This piece was composed for shakuhachi, sho, and gaku-biwa. And it's the 1st piece in the series of ensembles of ‘gagaku’(court music) and ‘hogaku’(means Japanese music) which have different roots. I focused on each instrument’s sound and also aimed to harmonize them. A music for a short and mystical autumn night. 

伝統音楽の中でも異なる歴史を持つ邦楽器と雅楽器によるシリーズの第一作。尺八と雅楽器である笙・楽琵琶のそれぞれ異なった楽器の特徴を追求しながら調和し得る部分を模索した、秋の夜と一つの短い幻想を描く一曲。

秋の夜に還る ／ Come Back to the Autumn Night (Excerpt) by Mio Adachi

“Torokasu Awashima” is a piece for ryuteki, sho and piano. Divided into two main sections, the piece opens with the sound of the sho reverberating through stillness and silence, before shifting toward a steadily rhythmical final section led by the polyrhythmic piano part. The ‘nanbu’-style Japanese wind chime that heralds the start of the piece and signals its finish also provides a summer-colored flourish. 

「蕩かす淡島」は龍笛、笙とピアノによる作品である。 
大きく分けて2つのセクションから構成されている本作品は、笙の響きと沈黙の静けさに満ちた静的な1つ目のセクションから、ピアノにより繰り返される動的なポリリズムが支配する2つ目のセクションへと移ってゆく。最初と最後に鳴らす南部風鈴の音が曲に夏の彩りを加える。 
初夏の早朝に広がる霧から、あの壮大な「淡島」が姿を現すのを見ていた。そしてその「淡島」が晩夏の陽炎に蕩かされる、という淡い夢を思い返す。

When I was a child, I went a park that I had never known across a river. Parks in dusk sometimes make us feel as if we are in the unknown world. It is a music for common sight by 17-strings koto, two violins, viola, and cello. 

子供の頃のある日、川の向こうのそれまで知らなかった公園に行ってみたことがありました。夕暮れの公園は時に、自分の知っている世界とは違った空間であるような気がしたものです。そんなありふれた空間のための、十七絃の箏とヴァイオリン・ヴィオラ・チェロによる音楽。

川のそばの公園 ／ At a Riverside Park (Excerpt) by Mio Adachi

he title of this work means "ice flower". I feel that “Flower" is extremely full of vitality, and "ice" feels eternal.I felt strongly attracted to these two contrasting words. In this work, I tried to express a drama of blooming ice with an ensemble of four instruments: shakuhachi, sho, gaku-biwa, and piano. 

この曲では雅楽で用いられる「盤渉調調子」の音（H,Cis,D,E,Fis,Gis,A）が主に使われています。盤渉調は冬を表現する調子であると聞き、「氷」という時間を封じ込める現象に興味を持っていた私は、氷で出来た花「氷花」というイメージに至りました。儚くも生命に満ち溢れた「花」という存在と、永遠を閉じ込められたように感じられる「氷」という存在が共存するこの言葉に強く惹かれたためです。触れるだけで壊れてしまいそうな繊細な氷の花が風に揺れ、最後には自らその花が咲きます。咲くはずのない氷の花が咲くというドラマを、今回選んだ４つの楽器のアンサンブルで表現しようと試みました。

「あさやけが砕けて」

誰かの砕け散った朝が、もしかしたら別の誰かの朝を照らすかもしれない。
それは隣の大切な誰かかもしれないし、次の季節の私自身かもしれない。

この曲は３つのモチーフから成り立っています。
１つめは強く呼びかけるようなモチーフ、２つめは遠くから応えるようなモチーフ、そして３つめは共通の想いを紡ぐような歌のモチーフ。
２つの声が連なって、１つの歌となります。

今叶えられなかった願いが、次の季節を照らすことを願って。

Someone's broken morning sunshine may illuminate another's morning.
It could be someone important to you, or yourself for the next season.

This work consists of three motifs.
The first is a motif that calls out strongly, the second is a motif that responds from a distance, and the third is a song motif that weaves shared feelings.
Two continuous voices become one song.

I hope that the wishes that cannot be fulfilled now will illuminate the next season.

「Imagine Peaceful Moments」は、この世界にいながら別の世界についても思いを馳せるための、リモート制作によるコンセプトアルバム。このアルバムの楽曲は、どこかに在るかもしれないし、あるいは架空かもしれないイメージの断片です。今、この瞬間のかけがえのなさに向き合えるように。

"Imagine Peaceful Moments" is a home production-based concept album, that seeks to imagine another world while remaining in our current one. The music featured on this album are fragments of images that may exist somewhere or may be imaginary - all inviting the listener to be conscious of the present moment as precious.

遠くの波音 ／ Listen to Distant Waves (Excerpt) by Mio Adachi

Formed in 2017, ON-ON is a creative group that consists of composers, Japanese traditional instrumental players, and a designer.They update the idea of the traditional music and culture by creating new style works, especially collaboration between music and visual arts like installation art and dance performance. Recently they are also focusing on live electronics and improvisation.

東京藝術大学在学・出身の作曲家、雅楽・邦楽演奏家によるグループ。2016年に行った演奏会『音音生による邦楽作品展』を前身に、2017年結成。多様な専門・バックグラウンドを持つメンバーのコラボレーションを通して、「日本文化」の既存のイメージにとらわれない新しい表現の可能性を模索している。最近はライブエレクトロニクスや即興演奏などパフォーマンスの幅を広げている。これまでに、CD『音音生による邦楽作品展』『ある一刻の庭』、ダンスパフォーマンス・インスタレーション『風景になる』を発表。各種イベントなどに出演。
