Our 23rd podcast comes from the iconic founder of the multifaceted Deep Space Helsinki project, Samulli Kemppi who headlined room 2 at Corsica Studios for us back in December 2016. What can we say… Kemppi was a standout artist for us from the year. His extensive knowledge and experience across both production and DJ’ing shone through that night, together with his unshakeable love for what he does. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to bring you this vinyl only podcast (including track listing) from Kemppi which perfectly captures the essence of what he delivered that night: deep and atmospheric, whilst carrying with it the character he is known for. Like many of his Far Eastern peers, Wata Igarashi has a deep, trippy, psychedelic techno sound. Listening to his tracks is like being beneath a dark sky that is expertly coloured with little exploding fireworks or shooting stars. There is also an element of automated industry to it that speaks to a bleak future and it comes on labels like Time to Express, Bitta and The Bunker New York. On these releases his immaculate sound design is always subtle yet stirring, and his DJ sets are similarly stylish and absorbing. 

Here he serves up one such trippy techno affair that builds in intensity and has “a little more bite towards the end“ according to the man himself. At two hours long it snakes its way through various desolate landscapes, with dubbed out rollers and more intense, multi-layered cuts all making for a variety of moods and grooves that segue together smoothly and seductively.

Justine Perry is a Berlin-based techno DJ. Attracted by the Berlin club scene, her sets are influenced by Deep, Dark and Acid Techno, bringing the public to a hypnotic experience.

Setting up in Berlin, she starting her collaboration with new artistic projects like Art Bei Ton and helped those events to feature more female artists. Established herself in Europe, she played in prestigious venues, such as Rex Club in Paris, Khidi in Tbilisi, Griessmühle or Tresor in Berlin, as well as some Festivals, like Forte Festival in Portugal and soon Intytute Festival in Poland.

Her work has allowed her to perform alongside renowned artists such as Peter Van Hoesen, Luigi Tozzi, Blazej Malinowski, Lotus Eater (Lucy & Rrose), Alan Oldham, Hemka, Raär and more.
