Miki Gonzales aka Mikongo is a musician possessing a long heritage in Peru. His legend is that of an innovator who brings traditional Peruvian music together with electronics and rock. 

Mikongo has recorded a vast amount of music and instruments that are all fastidiously documented. Dengue Dengue Dengue were honoured to be given access to Mikongo’s private archive and sound gallery. The Arp and Charango recordings in this track were made in the historical city of Ayacucho, a city located in the Peruvian Sierra that has rich musical traditions.

With many influences ‘Dileke' is a difficult track to locate. As a micro-cosom of unique ingredients from eclectic and singular sources. Amongst sampled celebratory chants from East Africa and synthetic atmospheric pads that bring a taste of European production, lies a percussive-heart beating with the unusual pairing of cumbia and hip hop sampled from the sounds found at the historic Zocalo, public square in Mexico DF.

'Semillero' is the title track from this https://denguedenguedengue.bandcamp.com/album/semillero forthcoming release OntheCorner.  Bringing together Andean flutes, electronica and afro-peruvian music. Dengue Dengue Dengue sense a parallel between the evolutions of afro-peruvian music and modern Angolan producers like 3beatz Musik and Dj Deivix. They open this idea up and lay it bare, with the sounds on ’Semillero’ depicting the migration of Andean people to the coast of Peru where the influence of afro-peruvian music continues to develop.  Sounds from Mikongo’s archive feature on this title track and help to shape the concept of the e.p. 'Semillero' is like an incubator, a place where new generations of life, culture and talent are nurtured, initiated, and bestowed with precious responsibility, knowledge and responsibility. Dengue Dengue Dengue anticipate the release of their upcoming new album ‘Zenit & Nadir’ with new single 'El Cavilante', a collaboration with vocalist Sara Van and Mikongo where they expand their interest in Afro-Peruvian music, which has led them to meet and record extensively with several members of the Ballumbrosio family, a renowned musical dynasty in Peru that has kept Afro-Peruvian musical traditions alive, masters of rhythms like landó, festejo and crioullo music, with traditional dances and instruments such as the iconic quijada - a rattling percussive instrument made out of a donkey’s jawbone. 

The introduction of live recordings with the Ballumbrosio brothers has given a whole new dimension to their always-expanding sound, and they feature extensively all throughout the album. As they were such an integral part of the recording process it made perfect sense that they would contribute to expand Dengue Dengue Dengue’s memorable audiovisual performance as well, and have began playing live shows together this year. The marriage between the traditional and organic percussion of the Ballumbrosios with DDD’s hypnotic electronic production has created a whole new chapter for the band. 

After debuting in 2012, they established themselves as a driving force in the thriving South American digital cumbia scene, but have since expanded their hybrid approach to music to introduce more references such as kuduro and zouk - and more recently the above mentioned Afro-Peruvian styles - which they fuse with traditional Latin American rhythms to build a sonic identity that is hypnotic and dark, while simultaneously festive and life-affirming. 

With the band being a visual project as much as a musical one, their carefully created aesthetic can be immediately noticed in the iconic masks they wear, often referencing traditional or indigenous elements while being artful and futuristic, a striking visual representation of their approach to music. Their new masks, which are being debuted on their upcoming tour, were handcrafted by Barcelona-based artists Twee Muizen.

We present you the new release of our Cosmo Co-Director @ElExtravagante Inspired by psychedelia, surrealism and referring to the theories of quantum physics about multiple parallel Universes, the EP ¨Multiverso Tropical¨ was born with 5 songs that play with the aesthetics of the Amazonian Cumbia sound, Psychedelic Rock, Dembow and Acid, 100% for the dancefloor.

The questioning of the material world as we know it has been present in numerous manifestations of science, spirituality and art, from the Surrealist Paris (of the 20s as well, but of the last century), the spirituality of the Andean & Amazonian cultures and the Hippie North America. Tropical Multiverse comes at an unusual moment for humanity, however, it is presented as a musical work that proposes something new and coincides with the beginning of a new era.

¨I thank Aroma and Ultra K for their remixes and Hawai Bonsai for believing in this somewhat "unusual" approach. I hope everyone dances a lot this release since we have a lot of life, art and party still to enjoy in this world! Thanks a lot¨

El cuestionamiento del mundo material como lo conocemos ha estado presente en numerosas manifestaciones de la ciencia, espiritualidad y arte, desde el Paris Surrealista (de los años 20!, pero del siglo pasado), la espiritualidad del Amazonas y la Norteamérica Hippie. Multiverso Tropical llega en un momento inusual para la humanidad no obstante se presenta como un trabajo musical que propone algo nuevo y coincide con el inicio de una nueva era.
