Holy Ship! Wrecked 2022 Official Mixtape Series: Nala

Korean American DJ, producer and vocalist SOHMI — a classically trained pianist — creates an enchanting, emotive blend of minimal house and techno with R&B and pop-inspired vocals for Ep. 146 of On The Record. Her sound is heavily inspired by her roots in classical music, punctuated with slinky R&B and UK garage cuts from the ’90s and early 2000s.

A natural force behind the decks, her project quickly gained notoriety after launching with a SoundCloud mix in 2018. She subsequently became the first Korean woman named a resident at the esteemed L.A. club Sound, has toured with the likes of Hot Since 82 and Boris Brejcha, and played a set at Coachella’s Yuma tent.
