Cape Town-based talent Mew Zu continues his rise with this new offering on standout South African imprint Rubricate Records, helmed by now-national talent Dopplershift. Following tasteful, well-received drops across the likes of Subplate Recordings and Saturate Records, 'Provence' represents Mew Zu's return to Rubricate after the standout 'Microdose' EP. Here, he again cements his self as a vital aspect of the thriving South African scene, which just keeps delivering on every level, be it musical, cultural or societal - it's a special place to be, and to witness. As a track, 'Provence' takes the form of an eerie, methodically-paced roller which excels in each of its perfectly curated facets, namely its instrumentation, intro, bassline and atmospheric potential, all fusing together to create a techy, minimal cut that hits explosively hard in the subs.
