‘Back At It’ is the third single from Melbourne synth-R&B act On’yu, and the first single off On’yu’s debut EP titled ‘Obsessive’, slated for release April 16, 2021. The track was inspired by the unspoken, lingering doubts in the early stages of a relationship: are they who you think they are? Are you on the same page? Dating can feel like a revolving cycle of anxieties and insecurities. ‘Back At It’ presents the emotional turmoil of a new relationship in On’yu’s mind. Will it or won’t it work out?

Inspired by the lush synths and pop production of Janelle Monae and Brian Wilson, Waiting For A Text is about trying to form relationships across a technological divide and how alienating it can feel. The song is a reflection of Rob’s personal struggles with anxiety, self-doubt and dating.

"Done Without" features crisp 80’s influenced electric piano mixed with Pop/Nu-Soul synth bass, and Nile Rodgers funk inspired guitar lines. The song tells a story of online dating and the desire to find somebody who likes us as much as we do them. It’s that feeling of self-doubt or uncertainty that we feel when we’re pushing past our anxieties and fears of rejection. It’s the realisation that sometimes it’s best to ignore the voice in your head telling you to give up, and the sense of fulfilment when it works out.

Originally a drummer and guitarist, Eggleston’s slick production is upheld by strong musicianship and a DIY ethos. On’yu has been a platform to develop his vision and push past his boundaries as a producer, handling as much of the process as possible.
Rob released his debut single ‘You Know It’s Over’ in early 2019. Featuring heavily 80’s influenced synth bass, live instrumentation & a wailing guitar crescendo, the song is a story of a dismantled relationship, but ultimately the realisation of the positives of moving on.
