"Style" can be defined as that special ability to watermark every track with an instantly-recognizable identity.

Local Suicide, aka Munich's Brax Moody and Greek-born Vamparela, has it in spades. And following releases on labels such as Bordello, My Favorite Robot, Multi Culti, Roam, Duro and OMBRA, it only made sense that the duo would eventually find its way to Lumière Noire. 

After all, "black light" (as per the meaning of Chloé's label's name) could describe the way Local Suicide's music flirts with the more troubling zones of the listener's psyche, where danger roams and aural comfort is no longer a guarantee.

The EP's two tracks set a dark, shifty sonic tableau, in which German-American multidisciplinary artist – and a unique personality of the Berlin underground – Nicki Fehr comes to blend his voice with Vamparela's.

With its swerving bass slithering over a slow tempo, Leopard Gum is the perfect slow burner, a slice of comatose disco that will find its way to the darkest corners of nightlife – and haunt its DJ sets. The synths that come crashing across the track's Smagghe & Cross remix add their saturated signature that provide a different kind of hook through its breathless nine-minute run.

The same measured tempo is found once more on the more ethereal Already There, where Local Suicide affirm their adherence to the more captivating signatures of new wave and post disco. Permanent Vacation stalwarth Lauer adds a surprizing electro pop shimmer to the track, while Niv Ast's version maintains the tension of the original's superimposed vocals.

With Leopard Gum's opaque and impenetrable atmosphere, Local Suicide have released one of their strongest efforts to date.

François X will open 2019 with the launch of a new label entitled ‘DEMENT3D XXX’, with the first EP coming courtesy of the Parisian himself.

Operating as a sister label to his longstanding DEMENT3D imprint, founded back in 2011, the new project will serve as a cultural platform for offering artists the freedom to explore genres across the electronic sphere. This approach stems from François’ own personal approach to music production and DJing, which maintains an emphasis on hearty, emotive and sensual cuts at its core. 

The inaugural EP comes from François X, due March 7th, with the four tracks featured on ‘Murky Dreams' bridging the gap between his previous and upcoming work as well as his future vision for the imprint, incorporating broken arrangements, captivating soundscapes, and immersive textures to reveal a warmer, more house-focused side to X’s sound across slower, entrancing tempos. 

Whilst Zoumenou’s productions remain centred around his personal vision of the night, highlighted by the track titles across the package, the cuts explore and delve deep into the idea of open expression within landscapes heightened through the sense of both obscurity and mystery, returning back to ideas explored within his ‘Irregular Passion, LP, released in 2018.

Further projects on the label will be announced promptly.

Exactly 40 minutes of one-take wonders, this LP is not only a sonic feast but a demonstration of creative ethics, catharsis, self-expression and a deep longing to make something in direct retaliation to the mindless, consumer-driven ideologies of the modern music industry. Owing their foundations to traditional afrobeat (and named after a Fela Kuti song), the Brooklyn-based, female-fronted band, Underground System, has built an international reputation around a seamlessly executed stage show, astonishing wherever they go, and compelling crowds to move with unbridled verve. 

Robbing American “afrobeat” of its derivative formalism, Underground System continues to reinvent their brand of global dance music, remaining a force determined to recreate, redefine, and reconstruct. 

In September 2018 the band released their debut LP What Are You on Soul Clap Records, the much-loved New York City imprint known for their coupling of party-ready DJ culture and shapeshifting live acts. Departing from the extended forms formally associated with Underground System’s live performances and stylistic roots. Hints of afrobeat, no wave, world, electronic, contemporary classical, disco, house, and genre-defying elements combine tightly to reflect a self-aware, edgy, and cohesive statement not currently being made by any other band.

Following up on “What Are You,” Underground System returns to Soul Clap Records with a remix package & music video for their standout single “Just A Place” due out, June 7th. Full of heavy hitters and dancefloor bombs, leading off is Germany’s king of the remix, Gerd Janson, who gives us a powerful 80’s influenced main mix and a stripped back drum tool. Joining Gerd on the package, UK legend Greg Wilson, who joins forces with his son Che, along with Soul Clap, Midnight Magic, Sol Power All-Stars, and Underground System mastermind, Peter Matson.

Local Fuzz is the debut LP from Gene On Earth, his fourth release on his own Limousine Dream label.

Just a few months since arriving to town and Gene has already found himself way in over his head. Several fortnights wiled away in the Rebound Lounge weren’t going to make a man’s life better - that’s as sure as sunrise. 

Just as sure was that the Discount Boys weren’t going to let him skip town without paying his due. Only from the prudent counsel of the canine oracle down in Chinatown does he manage to pull his head out of the sand and see the light. 

A swift flight out the gates and across the neon dunes to the East provides a brief respite - ‘brief’ being the operative word. The Discount Boys were one thing to contend with, but the Local Fuzz are another ballgame.

Deetron’s debut EP for Running Back is an amalgam of some of the key virtues of both parties involved:  the evocative and glorious power of the early days of rave (see cover art for further reference), emotional house, melodious techno, a beatless beauty and a firmly polished dance floor. Over the years, the Swiss producer has proven that his skill set and philosophy (underpinned by his mastery of the DJ trade) is perfect for such a mixture. 
The EPs title track is the result of an extensive research in quiet storm soul records and their influence on traditional house music. „T-Symmetry“ and „TXT“ make extensive use of Roland’s classic JX-8P synthesizer with very different outcomes and the certainty that the idea trumps the tools. Euphoric UK breakbeat pianos and Detroit techno soul can be made with the same mind and machine as well as in any time or place. A record full of fun, finesse and fantasy. Deetron, we salute you!
