This is a drumkit recording made at jackinthebox Studios using three Opal OM7 LDC Tube Mics in a Glyn Johns formation. The first mic is one meter above the snare and panned slightly to the right. The second mic is one meter from the centre of the snare pointing at the snare over the rim of the floor tom and panned slightly to the left. The third is pointing at the middle of the front head of the bass drum, about 8 inches out, also a meter from the middle of the snare for phase coherency. This file is 24bit 44.1khz with no treatment at all. A Voxengo Elephant limiter was used to bring the file up to full volume but with zero gain reduction. The recording is the Property of Velvet Stream.

This is a drumkit recording made at jackinthebox Studios using three Opal OM7 LDC Tube Mics in a Glyn Johns formation. The first mic is one meter above the snare and panned slightly to the right. The second mic is one meter from the centre of the snare pointing over the rim of the floor tom an panned slightly to the left. . The third is pointing at the middle of the front head of the bass drum, about 8 inches out, also a meter from the middle of the snare for phase coherency. This file is 24bit 44.1khz with a basic gate and a very little eq, cutting a few db of low end from the overheads and a certain of buss compression to show how the mics behave when treated.. A Voxengo Elephant limiter was used to bring the file up to full volume with a few db gain reduction. The recording is the Property of Velvet Stream.

Home Run by Lorraine Wood, recorded using a part modified Opal OM7 LDC valve. The transformer was replaced with a Lundahl 1538 wired 5:1 and the grid capacitor and output capacitors were replaced with high quality polystyrene and vishay polypropylene capacitors. 
Relevant parts of the internal wiring were replaced with military spec silver teflon wiring. 
The capsule and valve as well as the power supply are unchanged. 
Recorded using the mic pre on my Cadac a type console with about 45db of gain. 
Mytek 8X192 convertors at 88.2 khz. Processed UAD Studer A800 plugin,  A small amount of real 1176 4:1 slow compression and 5db of 10khz from a Summit EQp200B. Reverb is a lexicon PCM60.

Winter In Ontario by the lovely Kirsty Merryn. Recorded at Jackinthebox Studios in May 2012. My Ancient Hungarian grand piano recorded with an MS pair with an OM7 custom for the mid and a Coles 4038 for the side. Vocals recorded with the same OM7 custom modified with a Cinemag 2461NiCo transformer, a BeezNeez K7 capsule, Mundorf M-Cap capacitors and silver teflon wiring. Also custom painted white and the headbasket and grille rebuilt with three layer mesh. Serial number 001. Cadac A type preamp. UA 1176 compressor, Summit EQ200B, PCM60 reverb and UAD EMT140 plate.
I was commissioned by Steve Mackey to build him a U47 and this is the result so far!
