OPEN PORT CLUB mix series

Originally from Milan, Paquita Gordon is now based in Mallorca, and has been active in Europe, including a residency at the Terraforma festival.
After I listened Paquita Gordon's DJ for the first time, I went to listen to her DJ whenever I could. Due to the pandemic, I haven't been able to do so for a year, and our OPC mix series has also taken a year off. I am very happy to be able to restart again with this mix that she prepared for OPC. Here's a window into her world as she delves and explores different kinds of music.

Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
The mix is realized at my studio with the use of two Technics 1210 turntables, two Shure needles, an Ecler mixer and a Zoom digital recorder on 14 April 2021. It is composed by a selection of electronic dub and downtempo records from the last thirty years, taking the listeners into a deep sonic adventure.

このミックスは2021年4月14日に私のスタジオで、Technicsのターンテーブル1210を2台、Shureの針2本、Eclerのミキサー、Zoomのデジタルレコーダーを使って形にしました。ここ30年間にリリースされたエレクトロニック・ダブやダウンテンポのレコードのセレクションで構成されており、リスナーを奥深い音の冒険に誘います。

I am sooo happy to host a mix by one of my dear friends and favourite DJs to have graced the Melbourne/ Naarm scene in recent years, @differentshadess . Anis is a powerhouse DJ known for her deep dives into techno, trance and 170+ rhythms. 

Malaysian born, she has lived in Aus for the last 10 years and recently relocated to Berlin.  She has also recently started releasing some incredible productions, collaborating with another special Melbourne artist @loifian with a recent release on an @ute-rec x @amniote-editions compilation. 

Anis has a beautiful ability to tell stories through her music and mixes, no matter how calm or turbo the energy. This one is no exception.

Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
I recorded it at home using a turntable, an e&s mixer and ableton. I wanted to listen through to music I had come across recently and dig into the tracks deeper. I leaned more into the trippier sounding tracks with really nice sonics and "world-building" characteristics.

Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
　
I recorded it at my studio in Montreal. I selected music that are for me sooting in these psychotic times we going through collectively. Im also going to Brazil soon, always loved music from Brazil very much. In that mix there’s some from the 70s and some new electronic music from Numa Gama, a producer from Rio de Janeiro who is very inspiring to me and that i will meet soon.

The mix was recorded live in my house during the night. The Idea is to make an eclectic mix of old and new down tempo, dubby, cosmic disco, tribal balearic music that some how resemble tropical surroundings in nature.

OPEN PORT CLUB launched as a cultural project aimed at an inter-city exchange connecting Berlin and Sapporo through music in 2016. We had various projects carried out to bring the exchange between artists from Berlin and Sapporo. The regular program broadcasted every other month was started on Berlin Community Radio in the same year.

In 2019 we started a new mix series focused on artists from each of the six continents, due to Berlin Community Radio closing. It is an original mix featuring an artist selected from each continent.

The mixes are curated and interviewed by Berlin-based Yuzo Iwata @fabio-konair


2016年 札幌とベルリンの音楽文化交流プロジェクトとして発足。様々な形でそれぞれの街のアーティスト同士の交流プログラムを企画、実施。また、同年よりBerlin community Radioにて隔月レギュラー番組を放送。

2019年 BCRの閉鎖に伴い、新たに世界6大陸それぞれのアーティストに焦点を当てるPodcastシリーズをスタート。各地域よりアーティストをピックアップし、エクスクルーシブミックスを配信するミックスシリーズ。
