Darkest Past

One day I was traversing Soundcloud and came across the fabulous Italian poet, Ilaria Boffa. This is why I love Soundcloud. @ilaria_boffa. Her words and voice flowed out of my web browser and into my heart and soul. So  I reached out and begged her to collaborate with me. Lucky for me she agreed and then allowed me some creative license. So this is for you Ilaria, to you and your voice. May the world be as touched as I was by your words and creative spirit.

Ilaria took the piece published here on SC as "Music for Trains and Station Platforms" and captured it's mood and wrote some stellar, powerful words that created a whole new life and vision for the music. I applaud and am humbled by her multilingual approach to her art using a beautiful vividness of expression of human soul! Bravo Ilaria , bravo.

we must believe in spring
Earth axis increases
its tilt to the Sun
dew comes, frost no more
vernal peers share light

many a time belatedly
days in autumn
prepare for cold and 
special smell of soil
many a time fitfully

oh we must believe in spring
let snow melt and streams swell
the hardiest flowers sprout
days in autumn
prepare for dark and
many a time forecast the yield

dobbiamo sperare nella primavera
l’asse della terra aumenta
l’inclinazione al sole
giunge la rugiada, scongela la brina

This is the second part of the octophonic Acousmatic Cycle “La Lumière Artificielle”. The whole cycle was inspired by an interview of 1919, where the Chilean avant-garde poet Vicente Huidobro, talked about a new project:
"The creationist and simultaneist poem La Lumiere artificielle, for three voices on gramophone with new procedures (...)"(1).
This plan was never done. In the future, the poet would create works with sound as central axis and in Spanish and French, becoming an important reference for sound poetry in the Spanish speaking world.
This is a work in progress, a cycle inspired by Huidobro’s statement and the idea of voices in a fixed media, dealing with these issues: languages, abstract sounds by voice, new and old technologies. This Cycle is part of PhD thesis developed at the University of Sheffield under the supervision of Adam Stanović
