Artist Spotlight: Bredren

Next up, the Locked Up label boss Section brings us some experimental breaks and beats for the streets.

Section began making beats in 2006 and began releasing tracks under the alias in 2013. Since then Section have releases across labels including Dread Recordings, Skeleton Recordings, Rebel Music, Counterpoint Recordings, Serial Killaz, Sub-Liminal Recordings, Audio Addict and Deep In The Jungle. In 2017 he started his own label, Locked Up Music, which has gained support from all corners of the scene.

Kodeka is a Drum and Bass DJ based in Bristol. Her wide-ranging tastes are reflected in her mixes, which focus on blends and layering to tie them together.

Alongside DJing, Kodeka also co-founded Full Spectrum Bristol -  a collective set up to combat the lack of diversity on line ups through offering a platform to under-represented identities to release mixes, play shows and develop themselves as artists.

With no less than seven albums to his name, and a whole raft of releases on seminal labels such as Moving Shadow, Certificate 18, Metalheadz and his own label DRP, Dom & Roland is a certified pillar of the Drum & Bass scene, with his contributions undoubtedly shaping the music and it’s sound. 

His eighth LP is now on the horizon, and will be released on Metalheadz. This certainly promises to show a brilliantly crafted and no doubt technical side to his production, and is sure to be shaking dancefloors worldwide.

Quadrant & Iris make a welcome return to Dispatch with a 3 track release, featuring a collaboration with Codebreaker and a remix from Sixfour. 

‘Stoic’ takes its name from the Greek philosophical tradition of Stoicism, which encourages resilience in the face of a world and events that we’re unable to control. The last 4 years (and the last year in particular) have been difficult for many people, During this time, the US based couple Quadrant & Iris saw creating music like this as a defiant act. Something they ‘can’ control.

Codebreaker joins the pair for ‘Instinct’ as the talented lyricist and MC defines the authenticity he holds as key to the sound we love at Dispatch. Throughout his many years working within the scene he has seen it change but always return to the underground, choosing instinct over fabrication.
